Journal ArticleDOI

Deregulation of microRNA expression in follicular cell-derived human thyroid carcinomas

TL;DR: The mechanisms by which microRNA deregulation may play a role in thyroid carcinogenesis, and the possible use of microRNA knowledge in the diagnosis and therapy of thyroid neoplasms are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Abnormalities at 14q32.1 in T cell malignancies involve two oncogenes

TL;DR: The isolation and characterization of a new member of the TCL1 gene family, TCL 1b, located approximately 16 kb centromeric of TCL2, is reported, which encodes a 14-kDa protein of 128 aa and shows 60% similarity to Tcl1.
Journal ArticleDOI

17-DMAG targets the nuclear factor-κB family of proteins to induce apoptosis in chronic lymphocytic leukemia: clinical implications of HSP90 inhibition

TL;DR: Treatment with 17-DMAG leads to depletion of the HSP90 client protein IKK, resulting in diminished NF-kappaB p50/p65 DNA binding, decreased NF- kappaB target gene transcription, and caspase-dependent apoptosis, which significantly decreased the white blood cell count and prolonged the survival in a TCL1-SCID transplant mouse model.
Journal ArticleDOI

Chronic lymphocytic leukemia: interplay between noncoding RNAs and protein-coding genes

TL;DR: This work focuses on the roles of miRNAs and ultraconserved ncRNA genes in CLL, highlighting what is already known about their function, proposing a novel model of CLL predisposition and progression, and describing the challenges for the near future.
