TL;DR: Erythrina mysorensis possess significant anxiolytic activity in the mice and can be a promising anxIOlytic agent.
Abstract: Aim and Objectives: To evaluate anxiolytic effect of stem bark ethanol and chloroform extracts of Erythrina mysorensis in mice. Materials and Methods: The anxiolytic activity was examined by using the elevated plus maze (EPM) and open field test (OFT), and motor coordination by rotarod test (RRT). Twenty four Swiss albino male mice were divided into four groups of six mice each. Group 1 received vehicle (normal saline); group 2 received diazepam (1 mg/kg); groups 3 and 4 received ethanolic and chloroform extract of Erythrina mysorensis, 200 and 400 mg/kg p.o., respectively. Results: Mice treated with diazepam (1 mg/kg, p.o.) showed significant ( P Conclusion: Erythrina mysorensis possess significant anxiolytic activity in the mice. It can be a promising anxiolytic agent.

TL;DR: It was concluded that the binding of BPSQ to DNA occurs by a mechanism of intercalation, which probably accounts for its reported antitumor activity.
Abstract: The interaction between double‐stranded (ds) DNA and the 4‐butylamino pyrimido[4′,5′:4,5]selenolo(2,3‐b)quinoline (BPSQ) has been studied with spectral luminescence methods. Binding constant values determined by absorption and fluorescence titration indicated a binding constant of 4.24 × 104 and 5.9 × 104 M−1, respectively. The interaction was markedly suppressed by increasing the salt concentration. BPSQ exhibited a strong specificity for the guanine–cytosine (GC) sequence in total DNA at an ionic strength of 0.01 (5.54 × 106 M−1). BPSQ increased the viscosity of sonicated rod‐like DNA fragments, producing a calculated increment in length of 2.4 A per bound drug molecule. A circular dichroism experiment showed that BPSQ might interact with DNA according to two possible binding modes depending on its structure and concentration. The first mode concerned intercalation of BPSQ with its long axis perpendicular to the long axis of the DNA helix. The same drug was able to bind to external sites, secon...

TL;DR: In this article, the Zn-Ni composite coatings on mild steel substrate were prepared by incorporating multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) through electrodeposition.
Abstract: The Zn–Ni composite coatings on mild steel substrate were prepared by incorporating multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNT) through electrodeposition. The reinforcement of MWCNTs was increased by achieving high dispersion in the plating electrolyte. Surfactants cetyltriammonium bromide (CTAB), sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), and Triton X 100 were made use. The individual CNTs are active in the UV–vis region, and UV–vis spectroscopy was utilized to evaluate the extent of dispersion. Dynamic light scattering technique (DLS) was applied to calculate particle size distribution statistics with different surfactants. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX) were utilized to study the deposits’ morphology, structure, and composition, respectively. The coated specimens were tested for their corrosion resistance in 3.5% NaCl through polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopic (EIS) studies. Surfactants deagglomerated the particles and enhanced t...

TL;DR: Results suggest that 3a/3b can bind to CT-DNA by intercalation via the aromatic ring into the base pairs of DNA, which supports the large enhancement in the relative viscosity of calf thymus on binding to compounds.
