TLDR
The Lowry protein assay is a sensitive but highly nonspecific procedure that has been modified so that protein can be assayed in the presence of interfering chemicals.About:

Journal ArticleDOI
Alterations in carbon and nitrogen metabolism induced by water deficit in the stems and leaves of Lupinus albus L.
TL;DR: The observed changes appear to contribute to a general mechanism of survival under drought, the stem playing a key role in that process.
Journal ArticleDOI
Expression, tissue distribution and subcellular localization of dehydrin TAS14 in salt-stressed tomato plants.
José A. Godoy,Rosa Lunar,S. Torres-Schumann,Javier Moreno,R. Rodrigo,José Antonio Pintor-Toro +5 more
TL;DR: Investigation of TAS14, an mRNA that is induced in tomato upon osmotic stress or abscisic acid (ABA) treatment and that shares expression and sequence characteristics with other dehydrin genes in different species, found that it accumulated in adventitious root primordia and associated to the provascular and vascular tissues in stems and leaves.

Interaction of Tau Isoforms with Alzheimer's Disease Abnormally Hyperphosphorylated Tau and in VitroPhosphorylation into the Disease-like Protein
Alejandra del C. Alonso,Tanweer Zaidi,Michal Novak,Héctor S. Barra,Inge Grundke-Iqbal,Khalid Iqbal +5 more
TL;DR: It is suggested that lack of amino-terminal inserts and extra microtubule binding domain repeat in fetal human brain might be protective from Alzheimer's neurofibrillary degeneration, and that hyperphosphorylation of tau appears to be sufficient to acquire AD P-tau characteristics.
Journal ArticleDOI
Purification and characterization of (2S)-flavanone 3-hydroxylase from Petunia hybrida.
Lother Britsch,Hans Grisebach +1 more
TL;DR: ( 2S)-Flavanone 3-hydroxylase from flowers of Petunia hybrida catalyses the conversion of (2S)-naringenin to (2R,3R)-dihydrokaempferol, and the product was unequivocally identified as (+)-(2S,4',4',5'-pentahydroxy-flavanone.
Journal ArticleDOI
A synthetic peptide derived from p34cdc2 is a specific and efficient substrate of src-family tyrosine kinases.
TL;DR: The presence of cdc2(6-20)NH2 peptide tyrosine kinase activity in the membrane fractions of bovine brain, spleen, thymus, lung, liver, and kidney is demonstrated and immunological characterization suggested that TK-I,TK-II, and STK are bovines homologs of p56lck, p55fyn, and p56lyn, respectively.

Protein Measurement with the Folin Phenol Reagent
TL;DR: Procedures are described for measuring protein in solution or after precipitation with acids or other agents, and for the determination of as little as 0.2 gamma of protein.
Journal ArticleDOI
Influence of sucrose on protein determination by the Lowry procedure
B. P. Gerhardt,Harry Beevers +1 more
Journal ArticleDOI
Interference by detergents, chelating agents, and buffers with the Lowry protein determination.
TL;DR: The effect of succinic acid, sodium citrate, and Bicine on the Lowry method changes depending on the concentration of the chemicals, but the changes were not as significant as in the case of the chemical mentioned above.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interferences by sulfhydryl, disulfide reagents and potassium ions on protein determination by Lowry's method.
TL;DR: The concentrations ofulfhydryl, disulfide reagents, and also potassium ions interfere with the protein determination by Lowry's method, but at moderate concentrations this interference can be overcome by running appropriate blanks.
