TLDR
The Lowry protein assay is a sensitive but highly nonspecific procedure that has been modified so that protein can be assayed in the presence of interfering chemicals.About:

Intracerebroventricular Streptozotocin Exacerbates Alzheimer-Like Changes of 3xTg-AD Mice
Yanxing Chen,Yanxing Chen,Zhihou Liang,Zhu Tian,Julie Blanchard,Chun-ling Dai,Sonia Chalbot,Khalid Iqbal,Fei Liu,Cheng-Xin Gong +9 more
TL;DR: It is found that streptozotocin exacerbated impairment of short-term and spatial reference memory in 3xTg-AD mice and provides experimental evidence of the role of metabolic insult in AD.
Journal ArticleDOI
Intergenerational impact of paternal lifetime exposures to both folic acid deficiency and supplementation on reproductive outcomes and imprinted gene methylation.
Lundi Ly,Lundi Ly,Donovan Chan,Mahmoud Aarabi,Mahmoud Aarabi,Mylène Landry,Nathalie A. Behan,Amanda J. MacFarlane,Jacquetta M. Trasler,Jacquetta M. Trasler +9 more
TL;DR: Male mice exposed over their lifetimes to both FD and FS diets showed decreased sperm counts and altered imprinted gene methylation with evidence of transmission of adverse effects to the offspring, including increased postnatal-preweaning mortality and variability in imprinted genes methylation.

Purification of atrial natriuretic peptide receptor from bovine lung. Evidence for a disulfide-linked subunit structure.
Motoyuki Shimonaka,T. Saheki,Hiromi Hagiwara,M. Ishido,A Nogi,Toshiro Fujita,K Wakita,Yuji Inada,J Kondo,Shigehisa Hirose +9 more
TL;DR: The receptor for atrial natriuretic peptide was purified to apparent homogeneity from bovine lung by a combination of detergent extraction, ammonium sulfate precipitation, and affinity chromatography on ANP-Affi-Gel 10, indicating that the ANP receptor is composed of two probably identical subunits held together by disulfide bond(s).

Tertiary conformational changes of the Neurospora crassa plasma membrane H(+)-ATPase monitored by hydrogen/deuterium exchange kinetics. A Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy approach.
TL;DR: The results suggest that the conformational changes known to occur when the H(+)-ATPase interacts with the above ligands are predominantly tertiary structure changes.

Chloroplast HCF101 is a scaffold protein for [4Fe-4S] cluster assembly.
Serena Schwenkert,Daili J. A. Netz,Jeverson Frazzon,Antonio J. Pierik,Eckhard Bill,Jeferson Gross,Roland Lill,Jörg Meurer +7 more
TL;DR: It is demonstrated that the reconstituted cluster is transiently bound and can be transferred from HCF101 to a [4Fe-4S] apoprotein, and these findings suggest that HCF 101 may serve as a chloroplast scaffold protein that specifically assembles [4 Fe- 4S] clusters and transfers them to thechloroplast membrane and soluble target proteins.

Interference by detergents, chelating agents, and buffers with the Lowry protein determination.
TL;DR: The effect of succinic acid, sodium citrate, and Bicine on the Lowry method changes depending on the concentration of the chemicals, but the changes were not as significant as in the case of the chemical mentioned above.
Journal ArticleDOI
Interferences by sulfhydryl, disulfide reagents and potassium ions on protein determination by Lowry's method.
TL;DR: The concentrations ofulfhydryl, disulfide reagents, and also potassium ions interfere with the protein determination by Lowry's method, but at moderate concentrations this interference can be overcome by running appropriate blanks.
