Assay of proteins in the presence of interfering materials.

TLDR
The Lowry protein assay is a sensitive but highly nonspecific procedure that has been modified so that protein can be assayed in the presence of interfering chemicals.
About
This article is published in Analytical Biochemistry. The article was published on 1976-01-01. It has received 3135 citations till now. The article focuses on the topics: Lowry protein assay & Bicinchoninic acid assay.

Identification of CRAC, a cytosolic regulator required for guanine nucleotide stimulation of adenylyl cyclase in Dictyostelium.

TL;DR: A short N-terminal sequence of the 88-kDa CRAC polypeptide is determined, which matches a portion of the deduced N terminus of a gene, dagA, isolated from a mutant similar to synag 7, which restores both the 88 kDa band and CRAC activity.

Fuel metabolism of the mosquito (Culex quinquefasciatus) embryo

TL;DR: Adult female Culex quinquefasciatus were fed blood and maintained either on sugar or on water for 5 days and allowed to oviposit, and egg rafts, placed in a few drops of water, were analyzed immediately after oviposition and after hatching.

Calcium induces membrane translocation of 12-lipoxygenase in rat platelets.

TL;DR: In this paper, pre-incubation of platelet homogenates with 0.1-10 microM Ca2+ resulted in an increase in 12-lipoxygenase activity of the particulate fraction with a concomitant decrease in that of the soluble fraction.
Journal ArticleDOI

Characterization of an antiserum against the glucocorticoid receptor.

TL;DR: It was shown that the glucocorticoid receptor was the only detectable antibody binding protein from rat liver cytosol using this assay system, which indicates an immunochemical similarity between glucoc Corticoid receptors in different tissues as well as in different species, but not between glucose receptor proteins and other steroid hormone receptor proteins.

Protein Measurement with the Folin Phenol Reagent

TL;DR: Procedures are described for measuring protein in solution or after precipitation with acids or other agents, and for the determination of as little as 0.2 gamma of protein.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interference by detergents, chelating agents, and buffers with the Lowry protein determination.

TL;DR: The effect of succinic acid, sodium citrate, and Bicine on the Lowry method changes depending on the concentration of the chemicals, but the changes were not as significant as in the case of the chemical mentioned above.
Journal ArticleDOI

Interferences by sulfhydryl, disulfide reagents and potassium ions on protein determination by Lowry's method.

TL;DR: The concentrations ofulfhydryl, disulfide reagents, and also potassium ions interfere with the protein determination by Lowry's method, but at moderate concentrations this interference can be overcome by running appropriate blanks.
