TLDR
In this paper, a search for heavy bottom-like quarks, pair-produced in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV, undertaken with the CMS experiment at the LHC is presented.
Abstract
Results are presented from a search for heavy bottom-like quarks, pair-produced in pp collisions at sqrt(s) = 7 TeV, undertaken with the CMS experiment at the LHC. The b' quarks are assumed to decay exclusively to tW. The b' anti-b' to t W(+) anti-t W(-) process can be identified by its distinctive signatures of three leptons or two leptons of same charge, and at least one b-quark jet. Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.9 inverse femtobarns, observed events are compared to the standard model background predictions, and the existence of b' quarks having masses below 611 GeV is excluded at 95% confidence level.

Light top partners for a light composite Higgs

TL;DR: In this article, it was shown that the requirement of a light enough Higgs strongly constrains the fermionic spectrum and makes the light partners appear in the Discrete Composite Higgs Model.

Are IceCube neutrinos unveiling PeV-scale decaying dark matter?

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors explore the possibility of interpreting the data with a few PeV mass scale decaying dark matter, with lifetime of the order of 1027 s, and discuss generic signatures of this scenario, including its unique energy spectrum distortion with respect to the benchmark Eν−2 expectation for astrophysical sources, as well as peculiar anisotropies.

A Higgs conundrum with vector fermions

TL;DR: In this paper, the connection between electroweak precision measurements and Higgs production was examined and it was shown that the gluon fusion Higgs cross section and the Higgs decay branching ratios must be close to those predicted by the standard model.

The anti-$k_t$ jet clustering algorithm

TL;DR: The anti-k-t algorithm as mentioned in this paper behaves like an idealised cone algorithm, in that jets with only soft fragmentation are conical, active and passive areas are equal, the area anomalous dimensions are zero, the non-global logarithms are those of a rigid boundary and the Milan factor is universal.

TL;DR: The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN as mentioned in this paper was designed to study proton-proton (and lead-lead) collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 14 TeV (5.5 TeV nucleon-nucleon) and at luminosities up to 10(34)cm(-2)s(-1)

New generation of parton distributions with uncertainties from global QCD analysis

TL;DR: In this paper, a new generation of parton distribution functions with increased precision and quantitative estimates of uncertainties is presented, using a recently developed eigenvector-basis approach to the hessian method, which provides the means to quickly estimate the uncertainties of a wide range of physical processes at these high-energy hadron colliders, based on current knowledge of the parton distributions.
