26 Sep 2002TL;DR: In this paper, an apparatus is designed to provide backlighting utilizing luminescent impregnated material, which includes a radiation source providing a first radiation and a filter layer optically coupled to the radiation source including a luminescence material designed to absorb the first radiation, and emit one or more radiations.
Abstract: An apparatus is directed to providing backlighting utilizing luminescent impregnated material. The apparatus includes a radiation source providing a first radiation and a filter layer optically coupled to the radiation source including a luminescent material designed to absorb the first radiation, and emit one or more radiations. The apparatus further includes a light guide optically coupled to the filter layer and designed to receive the emitted radiation and reflect at least a portion of the emitted radiation. The apparatus additionally includes a display layer optically coupled to the light guide and designed to receive the reflected radiation. The system provides means for providing a first radiation, means for absorbing the first radiation, means for emitting one or more radiations based on the absorbed first radiation, means for receiving the emitted radiation, means for reflecting the emitted radiation, and means for receiving the reflected emitted radiation.

29 Jul 2004TL;DR: In this article, the system and method of the present invention apply information filters ( 83 A) hierarchically to information such as alerts/events generated by an operational electronic system, and display the results of the application of the information filters to information.
Abstract: The system and method of the present invention apply information filters ( 83 A) hierarchically to information ( 14 ) such as, for example, alerts/events generated by an operational electronic system ( 10 ). Further, the system and method can display the results of the application of the information filters ( 83 A) to information ( 14 ).

TL;DR: The developed analytical method was successfully applied to the determination of (135)Cs and (137)Cs isotopes in environmental samples collected after the FDNPP accident for contamination source identification.
Abstract: Since the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (FDNPP) accident in 2011, the activity ratio of 134Cs/137Cs has been widely used as a tracer for contamination source identification. However, because of the short half-life of 134Cs (2.06 y), this tracer will become unavailable in the near future. This article presents an analytical method for the determination of the long-lived 135Cs (t2/1 = 2 × 106 y) and the atomic ratio of 135Cs/137Cs, as a promising geochemical tracer, in environmental samples. The analytical method involves ammonium molybdophosphate (AMP)-selective adsorption of Cs and subsequent two-stage ion-exchange chromatographic separation, followed by detection of isolated radiocesium isotopes via triple-quadrupole inductively coupled plasma–mass spectrometry (ICP-MS/MS). The AMP-selective adsorption of Cs and the chromatographic separation system showed high decontamination factors (104–105) for interfering elements, such as Ba, Mo, Sb, and Sn. Using ICP-MS/MS, only selected ions enter the col...

TL;DR: In this article, a sample containing miRNA is contacted with an array having a probe set, followed by interrogating the array to assess binding to the probe set and then incorporating the probe sets.
Abstract: Methods are described in which a sample containing miRNA is contacted with an array having a probe set, followed by interrogating the array to assess binding to the probe set. Probes (102), probe sets, arrays comprising a probe set, and kits incorporating the probe sets are also described.

TL;DR: In-vivo ACE inhibition studies showed that 400 mg/kg of Alcalase-generated proteolysate stabilized the blood pressure in normotensive rats, suggesting that the hydrolysed protein components of S. horrens possess bioactive peptides that can be exploited as functional food ingredients against hypertension.
