TL;DR: In this paper, the synthesis and field effect transistor (FET) electron mobility of ten N-substituted naphthalene 1,4,5,8-tetracarboxylic diimide (NTCDI) derivatives deposited at ambient and elevated temperatures are reported.
Abstract: The synthesis and field-effect transistor (FET) electron mobility of ten N-substituted naphthalene 1,4,5,8-tetracarboxylic diimide (NTCDI) derivatives deposited at ambient and elevated temperatures are reported. Mobilities >0.01 cm2/(V s) were measured in air for three NTCDIs with partially fluorinated substituents, and >0.001 cm2/(V s) for a hydroxy-terminated compound. Mobilities 0.001−0.1 cm2/(V s) were also found for three n-alkyl NTCDIs, but only under vacuum; FET operation with gold bottom contacts was enabled by specific thiol coatings of the contacts. The highest mobility in air, >0.1 cm2/(V s), was conferred by 4-trifluoromethylbenzyl substitution, while 1H,1H-perfluorooctyl substitution resulted in an on/off ratio in air >105. Solution electrochemistry and solid-state X-ray and electron diffraction were employed to partially explain the results, and applications of the materials to complementary circuits are considered.

TL;DR: The corresponding link-level simulation results are encouraging, and show that MIMO-OFDM is a promising road to future broadband wireless access.
Abstract: Orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing is a popular method for high-data-rate wireless transmission. OFDM may be combined with multiple antennas at both the access point and mobile terminal to increase diversity gain and/or enhance system capacity on a time-varying multipath fading channel, resulting in a multiple-input multiple-output OFDM system. In this article we give a brief technical overview of MIMO-OFDM system design. We focus on various research topics for the MIMO-OFDM-based air interface, including spatial channel modeling, MIMO-OFDM transceiver design, MIMO-OFDM channel estimation, space-time techniques for MIMO-OFDM, and error correction code. The corresponding link-level simulation results are encouraging, and show that MIMO-OFDM is a promising road to future broadband wireless access.

TL;DR: Organic field-effect transistors based on pentacene single crystals, prepared with an amorphous aluminum oxide gate insulator, are capable of ambipolar operation and can be used for the preparation of complementary inverter circuits.
Abstract: Organic field-effect transistors based on pentacene single crystals, prepared with an amorphous aluminum oxide gate insulator, are capable of ambipolar operation and can be used for the preparation of complementary inverter circuits. The field-effect mobilities of carriers in these transistors increase from 2.7 and 1.7 square centimeters per volt per second at room temperature up to 1200 and 320 square centimeters per volt per second at low temperatures for hole and electron transport, respectively, following a power-law dependence. The possible simplification of the fabrication process of complementary logic circuits with these transistors, together with the high carrier mobilities, may be seen as another step toward applications of plastic electronics.

TL;DR: This work has reproduced persistent neural firing in a premotor area that is responsible for holding the eyes still during fixation in a biophysically plausible network model, and found that a relatively long synaptic time constant improves the robustness to mistuning.

06 Nov 2000TL;DR: In this paper, a wireless telecommunications system uses location or position information of a wireless mobile unit to initiate the sending of location-specific information to travelers, such as airline or traffic information.
Abstract: A wireless telecommunications system uses location or position information of a wireless mobile unit to initiate the sending of location-specific information to travelers. As position information is received, it is compared to prestored position information of a remote location, such as an airport. As the traveler approaches the remote location, and gets within a certain distance the remote location, information such as airline arrival information is retrieved and sent to the wireless mobile unit of the traveler. Thus, useful information tied to the position of the wireless mobile unit, such as airline or traffic information for example, is obtained.
