Abstract: Este artigo discute as razoes que levaram ao indeferimento de um projeto que Mies van der Rohe fez para a City de Londres nos anos 1960. Aprovado pelas autoridades em 1969, o projeto foi indeferido em 1982. Em 1984, o empresario Peter Palumbo, que contratara Mies em 1962, entrou com um pedido de reconsideracao, que foi novamente rejeitado, em 1985. Terminava o longo processo de mais de 20 anos, que poderia ter dado “um Mies” a Londres, sendo substituido por um edificio de James Stirling. A mudanca de atitude (aceita nos 1960, rejeitada nos anos de 1980) mostra o enfrentamento entre as visoes moderna e pos-moderna, manifestadas no ultimo quartel do Seculo XX. A pesquisa foi realizada sobre documentos publicos do arquivo Mansion House Scheme (Royal Institute of British Architects), nos quais (reports do processo) fica evidente que havia duas posicoes contrarias e legalmente bem sustentadas, apoiando ou rejeitando o projeto, o que leva a pensar que o indeferimento foi movido por outras razoes. Alem de expor o acontecido, este artigo aponta as motivacoes de carater cultural, sobretudo estetico, subjacente ao complexo processo que moldou essa area da City londrina. A reflexao apresentada embasa sua posicao metodologica fundamentalmente em tres formas de aproximacao com o problema, atraves das quais, acredita-se que e possivel interpretar e ponderar o porque aquela sociedade, em tao pouco tempo, encampou e depois rejeitou o mesmo projeto. Sao elas: o valor da imagem, a identidade e, principalmente, o gosto.

Abstract: Introduction: Obesity is major cardiovascular risk factor characterized by excessive body fat, which differs between women and men through the genoid and android phenotypes, respectively. Android phenotype has been correlated with increased cardiovascular risk. However, it having been search to assess the effects of obesity between males and females to understand the differences in risk factors. It is known fertile females' cardiovascular protection resulting by estrogen bioavailability can be impaired with body fat increase. Aim: To compare the effects of a high-fat diet on metabolic, hemodynamic and cardiovascular autonomic parameters of male and female mice. Methods: 32 C57BL/6J mice were divided into 4 groups (n=8 each): male fed low-fat diet (ML) or high-fat (MH), females fed a low-fat diet (FL) or high-fat (FH). Diets were administrated for 10 weeks. Body weight and food consumption were measured throughout protocol. At the end, fasting blood glucose, oral glucose tolerance direct recording blood pressure, baroreflex sensitivity and cardiovascular autonomic modulation were measured. Results: High-fat diet increased body weight (ML: 4.2±0.4; MH: 10.5±0.9; FL: 5.8±0.4; FH: 11.7±0.3 g) and body fat in both sexes (ML: 0.8±0.09; MH: 2.6±0.2; FL: 1.0±0.09; FH: 2.4±0.3 g). As well as basal glycemia, which was higher in animals fed a high-fat diet (ML: 114±5.7; MH: 136±8.2; FL: 90±4.9; FH: 147±2.5mg/ dL). Interestingly, the area under the curve on the OGTT was greater in MH group (ML: 21541±1102; MH: 26266±891; FL: 16123±546; FH: 22149±574 AUC) than in the other groups, indicating glucose intolerance. Systolic blood pressure was higher in male groups (ML: 148±2.7; MH: 152±2.4; FL: 130±3.5; FH: 132±2.5 mm/Hg). There was no difference in pulse interval variability in the time domain (DP-PI) or (VAR-PI). However, RMSSD was influenced by the high-fat diet regardless sex factor. In the frequency domain females and male fed the high-fat diet showed a reduction in very low frequency band (VLF). There were sex influences on the low (LF) and high frequency (AF) bands, as well as in the variance of systolic blood pressure in female. Conclusion: Males and females fed a high-fat diet showed the same gain in weight and adipose tissue. However, females did not show glucose tolerance, changes in blood pressure levels, suggesting a cardioprotective factor compared to males, even during obesity. Abstract: Introduction: Elderly people demand greater attention and special care due to their greater vulnerability to complications resulting from COVID19. Measures of social detachment can cause increased levels of stress, anxiety and depression. Objective: to identify strategies in the literature to promote psychosocial well-being for elderly people during the pandemic. Method: narrative and descriptive review . Results: The strategies addressed that minimized the impacts observed and related to psychological interventions, recommendations through videos or booklets, health prevention actions and social support. Conclusion: it is relevant to expand programs that offer support for the elderly, as they are more prone to emotional maladjustments arising from social isolation.

Abstract: INTRODUCAO: A associacao da fadiga muscular com o aumento da forca vertical de reacao do solo representa risco de fratura por estresse de tibia em esportes como a corrida de longa distância e o triatlo. Objetivo: Analisar e comparar parâmetros do componente vertical das forcas de reacao do solo e parâmetros musculares isocineticos da flexao plantar (FP) e dorsiflexao (DF) do tornozelo entre grupos de corredores de longa distância e triatletas com e sem historico de fratura por estresse de tibia. METODOS: Setenta e cinco atletas de corrida de longa distância e triatletas do sexo masculino, com media de idade de 30,26 ± 6,51 anos foram divididos de acordo com a historia pregressa de fratura por estresse de tibia em: grupo fratura (GF), composto por 12 individuos com historia de fratura por estresse da tibia, e grupo nao-fratura (GNF), composto por 37 individuos sem historia de fratura por estresse de tibia. Os parâmetros cineticos foram medidos durante a corrida por meio de uma plataforma de forca AMTI, e os parâmetros isocineticos por meio de dinamometro isocinetico Biodex (System 3). RESULTADOS: Para todas as variaveis isocineticas e cineticas, nao houve diferencas entre GF e GNF. CONCLUSAO: Ainda que nao se tenha identificado uma diferenca de desempenho entre os grupos estudados, o perfil cinetico (impacto) e isocinetico (atividade muscular) mostra que o treinamento da corrida com deficits em cuidados com a condicao muscular e o controle de fatores extrinsecos pode criar uma situacao de risco de ocorrencia de fraturas por estresse.
