TL;DR: NHCO3 supplementation enhances steady isometric contraction performance and reduces the internal load.
Abstract: Introduction: Although sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) supplementation has been shown to decrease fatigue and improve high-intensity exercise performance, the effects on maintenance of isometric contractions are not clear. Objective: To investigate the effect of NaHCO3 on the performance of individuals subjected to a fatigue protocol in an isometric exercise on the isokinetic dynamometer. Methods: Participants were 12 men in a randomized, double-blind, crossover, placebo-controlled trial. Sixteen minutes after the intake of 0.3 g/kg of body mass of NaHCO3 or placebo, the participants performed an isometric fatigue protocol of right knee extension exercises during eight minutes at 70% of maximum voluntary isometric contraction. The fatigue indicator was the time point at which torque was reduced to 50% of the initial value. The length of resistance was assessed by maintaining the task over 50% of the initial torque. Lactate/blood pH concentrations and rate of perceived exertion (RPE) and pain (RPP) indexes were analyzed. The RPE of the session was evaluated 30 minutes after the test. Results: Blood pH was higher in pre-protocol and in the fatigue indicator after NaHCO3 intake, as were the blood lactate concentrations in the fatigue indicator and at the end of the protocol (p<0.001). NaHCO3 supplementation increased the time to fatigue and lessened the rate of decline of isometric peak torque at the end of the protocol (p<0.001). RPE and RPP were smaller at the end of the protocol in the NaHCO3 condition, and the RPE of the session was diminished (p<0.001). Conclusion: NaHCO3 supplementation enhances steady isometric contraction performance and reduces the internal load. TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigated the ideas of the human body transmitted and grasped by the teachers of physical education in basic education classes and found that when transmitting ideas of restricted body in the physical dimension, they realized that the reactions of their students were directed to the concrete aspects of the body and to the aspects related to the behavior of the organisms.
Abstract: The present study investigates the ideas of the human body transmitted and grasped by the teachers of Physical Education in Basic Education classes. It was carried a research with Physical Education teachers using the following questions: What ideas about the human body are you transmitting in your Physical Education classes? Do you perceive the reactions of your students to these ideas? The analyses of the answers were methodologically followed in these moments: a) reading of the descriptions, b) elaboration of the units of meaning; c) ideographic analysis; d) nomothetic analysis. Results showed that teachers of Physical Education when transmitting ideas of restricted body in the physical dimension, they realized that the reactions of their students were directed to the concrete aspects of the body and to the aspects related to the behavior of the organisms; when they transmitted ideas of body focusing in the social dimension, they realized that their students demonstrated autonomy in social and cultural aspects. Finally, when they transmitted ideas of body in more including ways, they realized that their students related the physical activities to cognitive aspects. The results also showed that among the researched teachers, only one transmitted to the students the idea of the human body through inter-related physical, social and psychological knowledge.

TL;DR: The circuit training can be a big recourse for decreasing the body fat, and for the physical performance until in an elderly woman with diabetes mellitus non - insulin treated type 2.
Abstract: Introduction: This work is a case study where the Circuit Training was to use as strategy for the weight loss in an elderly woman with Diabetes Mellitus type. Nowadays, the obesity has been the biggest responsible for increasing cases of several diseases, among the diabetes. Treating and avoiding the obesity, is a survive question and the exercise is a big recourse. Objective: to check the effects of realizing circuit training, in decrease of body fat, in an elderly woman with of diabetes mellitus non - insulin treated type 2. Materials and Methods: Instruments: anthropometric measurements, skin fold measurements and Body Mass Index, force’s tests in inferiors members and superiors members, ergometric test an flexibility test (Wells’s Scott), before and after circuit training, during eight months. Results: decrease of 3,87 pounds of body fat, increase of 108,33% force in superiors members and 36,36% inferiors members , increase of 16,67% in flexibility and 18% in the resting heart rate. Discussion: The exercise can increase the energetic cost (during and after training), as well the sensibility insulin, increasing the resting energy expenditure, promoting the negative energetic balance (weight loss), as well increasing the physical performance, even when the population with necessity for more care. Conclusion: The circuit training can be a big recourse for decreasing the body fat, and for the physical performance until in an elderly woman with diabetes mellitus non - insulin treated type 2.
