Journal ArticleDOI
TG2 regulates the heat‐shock response by the post‐translational modification of HSF1
Federica Rossin,Valeria Rachela Villella,Manuela D’Eletto,Maria Grazia Farrace,Speranza Esposito,Eleonora Ferrari,Romina Monzani,Luca Occhigrossi,Vittoria Pagliarini,Claudio Sette,Giorgio Cozza,N. A. Barlev,Laura Falasca,Gian Maria Fimia,Guido Kroemer,Valeria Raia,Luigi Maiuri,Mauro Piacentini +17 more
TL;DR: It is shown that the inhibition of TG2 restores the unbalance in HSF1‐HSP70 pathway in cystic fibrosis (CF), a human disorder characterized by deregulation of proteostasis through the modulation of the heat‐shock response.
Journal ArticleDOI
Anti-apoptotic activity of the glutathione peroxidase homologue encoded by HIV-1
I. Cohen,Patricia Boya,Liwei Zhao,Didier Métivier,Karine Andreau,Jean-Luc Perfettini,Joel G.R. Weaver,Andrew D. Badley,Ethan Will Taylor,Guido Kroemer +9 more
TL;DR: HIV-1 GPX possesses a cytoprotective, pathophysiologically relevant function, and clinical HIV-1 isolates from long-term non-progressors mostly possess an intact GPX gene, while patients developing AIDS contain non-functional GPX mutants.
Journal ArticleDOI
α-Ketoglutarate inhibits autophagy.
Elisa E. Baracco,Elisa E. Baracco,Francesca Castoldi,Francesca Castoldi,Sylvère Durand,Sylvère Durand,David Enot,David Enot,Jelena Tadic,Katharina Kainz,Katharina Kainz,Frank Madeo,Alexis Chery,Alexis Chery,V. Izzo,V. Izzo,Maria Chiara Maiuri,Maria Chiara Maiuri,Federico Pietrocola,Guido Kroemer +19 more
TL;DR: The results support the idea that intracellular α-ketoglutarate inhibits starvation-induced autophagy and that it has no direct respiration-inhibitory effect.
Journal ArticleDOI
Actinomycin D Targets NPM1c-Primed Mitochondria to Restore PML-Driven Senescence in AML Therapy
Hsin-Chieh Wu,Domitille Rérolle,Domitille Rérolle,Caroline Berthier,Rita Hleihel,Takashi Sakamoto,Samuel Quentin,Shirine Benhenda,Claudia Morganti,Chengchen Wu,Lidio Conte,Lidio Conte,Lidio Conte,Sylvie Rimsky,Marie Sebert,Emmanuelle Clappier,Sylvie Souquere,Stéphanie Gachet,Jean Soulier,Sylvère Durand,Jennifer J. Mak,Valérie Lallemand-Breitenbach,Ali Bazarbachi,Brunangelo Falini,Keisuke Ito,Maria Paola Martelli +37 more
TL;DR: In this article, an oncogenic mutant form of NPM1 (NPM1c) impairs mitochondrial function and hampers formation of PML nuclear bodies, which are regulators of mitochondrial fitness and key senescence effectors.
Journal ArticleDOI
Prolonged SARS-CoV-2 RNA virus shedding and lymphopenia are hallmarks of COVID-19 in cancer patients with poor prognosis.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors found that malignant disease favors the magnitude and duration of viral RNA shedding concomitant with prolonged serum elevations of type 1 IFN that anticorrelated with anti-RBD IgG antibodies, and that low lymphocyte counts correlated with chronic SARS-CoV-2 RNA shedding, COVID-19 severity, and a higher risk of cancer-related death in the first and second surge of the pandemic.
