TL;DR: A plant product is reported that many act as a selective weedicide.
Abstract: Studies on plant products have revealed that many of them may either act as fungicides,1,2) insecticides,3)chemosterilants,4,5) moluscicides,6) bactericides7) or as virucides.8) Although there are a number of reports on natural inhibitors of germination and growth,9) and on allelochemics,10) little work seems to have been done with respect to their possible selective effects, hence to their possible use as selective weedicides. Here we report a plant product that many act as a selective weedicide.

TL;DR: The review discusses several prominent biological utilities of P. hysterophorus as it contains several important chemical constituents mainly histamine, saponin, glucosides and triterpene (sesquiterpenes) and can be of use for the purpose of biocontrol of various pathogens, for its medicinal utility and even for thepurpose of food.
Abstract: Parthenium hysterophorus L. (Asteraceae) is a serious weed of pastures, wasteland and agricultural fields in world. Various problems are posed by the weed to human health, agriculture, live stock production and biodiversity. It is used as folk remedy against various afflictions. The review discusses several prominent biological utilities of P. hysterophorus as it contains several important chemical constituents mainly histamine, saponin, glucosides and triterpene (sesquiterpene) and can be of use for the purpose of biocontrol of various pathogens , for its medicinal utility and even for the purpose of food.

TL;DR: In this article, essential oil and oleoresins (ethanol, ethyl acetate, and iso-propyl alcohol) of Myristica fragrans were extracted by using Clevenger and Soxhlet apparatus, respectively.
Abstract: Essential oil and oleoresins (ethanol, ethyl acetate, and iso-propyl alcohol) of Myristica fragrans were extracted by using Clevenger and Soxhlet apparatus, respectively. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis of essential oil showed the presence of 38 components representing about 99.6% of the total weight. Sabinene (29.4%) was found to be a major component along with beta pinene (10.6%), alpha pinene (10.1%), terpene-4-ol (9.6%), and several other minor components. The major component of all oleoresins contained elemicin. It has been observed that the essential oil and ethanol oleoresin showed better activity compared to other tested oleoresins and synthetic antioxidants, butylated hydroxyl anisole and butylated hydroxyl toluene. Furthermore, the activity of essential oil and oleoresins was measured for the inhibition of primary and secondary oxidation products in mustard oil by using peroxide, thiobarbituric acid, and p-anisidine values. In addition, these experiments were further supported by o...
