TL;DR: Integration of the two data sets of silkworm whole-genome-shotgun sequencing by the Japanese and Chinese groups together with newly obtained fosmid- and BAC-end sequences produced the best continuity among the sequenced insect genomes and provided a high degree of nucleotide coverage.
Abstract: The silkworm, Bombyx mori, is one of the most economically important insects in many developing countries owing to its large-scale cultivation for silk production. With the development of genomic and biotechnological tools, B. mori has also become an important bioreactor for production of various recombinant proteins of biomedical interest. In 2004, two genome sequencing projects for B. mori were reported independently by Chinese and Japanese teams; however, the datasets were insufficient for building long genomic scaffolds which are essential for unambiguous annotation of the genome. Now, both the datasets have been merged and assembled through a joint collaboration between the two groups.

TL;DR: This paper proposes a load balanced routing protocol based on the RPL protocol, named LB-RPL, to achieve balanced workload distribution in the network, and demonstrates the performance superiority of this protocol over original RPL through extensive simulations.
Abstract: The RPL routing protocol published in RFC 6550 was designed for efficient and reliable data collection in low-power and lossy networks. Specifically, it constructs a Destination Oriented Directed Acyclic Graph (DODAG) for data forwarding. However, due to the uneven deployment of sensor nodes in large areas, and the heterogeneous traffic patterns in the network, some sensor nodes may have much heavier workload in terms of packets forwarded than others. Such unbalanced workload distribution will result in these sensor nodes quickly exhausting their energy, and therefore shorten the overall network lifetime. In this paper, we propose a load balanced routing protocol based on the RPL protocol, named LB-RPL, to achieve balanced workload distribution in the network. Targeted at the low-power and lossy network environments, LB-RPL detects workload imbalance in a distributed and non-intrusive fashion. In addition, it optimizes the data forwarding path by jointly considering both workload distribution and link-layer communication qualities. We demonstrate the performance superiority of our LB-RPL protocol over original RPL through extensive simulations.

TL;DR: In this paper, a diesel particulate oxidizer (DPO) is disposed in the exhaust passage for collecting and burning the particulate without allowing the particulates to be discharged directly to the atmosphere, when the quantity of particulates collected is above a predetermined value, the DPO will undergo clogging.
Abstract: Flammable fine particles (particulates) consisting principally of carbon and hydrocarbons are discharged from a diesel engine to its exhaust system. A diesel particulate oxidizer (DPO) is disposed in the exhaust passage for collecting and burning the particulates without allowing the particulates to be discharged directly to the atmosphere. This DPO comprises a ceramic foam with catalyst. When the quantity of particulates collected is above a predetermined value, the DPO will undergo clogging. To prevent this, a high temperature gas containing oxygen is fed to the DPO to burn (regenerate) the collected particulates. In order to accelerate the normal regeneration of the DPO, there are provided a regeneration means for making a retard control of the fuel injection timing in the diesel engine, and a regeneration timing control means for controlling the operation of the regeneration means. Further, there is provided a regeneration timing detection means for detecting the regeneration timing of the DPO.

TL;DR: In this article, a multimedia information processing system comprises an information-source coding section for generating an element packet containing coded multimedia information and additional information to specify the packet, a packet multiplexing section to generate multiple-xed stream by multiplexed the element packet, and a transmission processing section for outputting the multiple-axed stream as a transmission signal corresponding transmission media.
Abstract: A multimedia information processing system comprises an information-source coding section for generating an element packet containing coded multimedia information and additional information to specify the packet, a packet multiplexing section for generating multiplexed stream by multiplexing the element packet, and a transmission processing section for outputting the multiplexed stream as a transmission signal corresponding transmission media. In this multimedia information processing system, a processing sequence from selection of multimedia information to transmission or storage processing is classified, and the processing contents and input/output data are determined for each hierarchy. Data exchange between services such as broadcasting, communication, storage in computer and so on can be easily attained. Additionally, hardware structure of this system can be simplified, and additional functions can be easily added.

TL;DR: In silico analysis of polymorphisms increased the efficiency of polymorphic marker development, and contributed to the construction of high-density linkage maps in cultivated peanut.
Abstract: Peanut (Arachis hypogaea) is an autogamous allotetraploid legume (2n = 4x = 40) that is widely cultivated as a food and oil crop. More than 6,000 DNA markers have been developed in Arachis spp., but high-density linkage maps useful for genetics, genomics, and breeding have not been constructed due to extremely low genetic diversity. Polymorphic marker loci are useful for the construction of such high-density linkage maps. The present study used in silico analysis to develop simple sequence repeat-based and transposon-based markers. The use of in silico analysis increased the efficiency of polymorphic marker development by more than 3-fold. In total, 926 (34.2%) of 2,702 markers showed polymorphisms between parental lines of the mapping population. Linkage analysis of the 926 markers along with 253 polymorphic markers selected from 4,449 published markers generated 21 linkage groups covering 2,166.4 cM with 1,114 loci. Based on the map thus produced, 23 quantitative trait loci (QTLs) for 15 agronomical traits were detected. Another linkage map with 326 loci was also constructed and revealed a relationship between the genotypes of the FAD2 genes and the ratio of oleic/linoleic acid in peanut seed. In silico analysis of polymorphisms increased the efficiency of polymorphic marker development, and contributed to the construction of high-density linkage maps in cultivated peanut. The resultant maps were applicable to QTL analysis. Marker subsets and linkage maps developed in this study should be useful for genetics, genomics, and breeding in Arachis. The data are available at the Kazusa DNA Marker Database ( http://marker.kazusa.or.jp ).
