TL;DR: In this article, X-ray analysis was performed on pyrolysis products of soybean globulin and the structures of the mutagenic principles were established by 3-amino-1,4-dimethyl-5H-pyrido[4,3-b]indole and 3amino 1,1,methyl-5 H-Pyrido [4, 3b]-indole (amino↔-carbolines).

TL;DR: While having many benefits, locales introduce an additional problem: finding something when you do not know what locale it is in, which is solved by the companion concept of beacons.
Abstract: There is a natural desire to make multi-user virtual environments large in spatial extent, in numbers of objects, and in numbers of users interacting with the environment. However, doing this brings up several problems: efficiently managing the flow of large amounts of data between large numbers of users, representing precise position and velocity information about objects that are arrayed across a large volume of space, and allowing designers to create parts of a virtual environment separately and combine them together later. Locales are an efficient method for solving these problems by breaking up a virtual world into compact chunks that can be described and communicated independently. In addition, locales can be used to support a number of special effects that allow virtual worlds to easily transcend reality. While having many benefits, locales introduce an additional problem: finding something when you do not know what locale it is in. This is solved by the companion concept of beacons, which makes it possible to find something no matter where it is.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors proposed to provide compounds which exhibit therapeutic effects through the inhibition of DPP-IV and are satisfactory as drugs, by finding that η-substituted proline derivatives of the general formula (I) exhibit potent inhibitory activities and improving the same in stability.
Abstract: The invention aims at providing compounds which exhibit therapeutic effects through the inhibition of DPP-IV and are satisfactory as drugs. The invention has been accomplished by finding that η-substituted proline derivatives of the general formula (I) exhibit potent DPP-IV inhibitory activities and improving the same in stability. [In the general formula, each symbol is as defined in the description.]

TL;DR: Syntenic and phylogenetic analyses indicated that divergence between Raphanus and Brassica coincide with the time of whole genome triplication (WGT), suggesting that WGT triggered diversification of Brassiceae crop plants.
Abstract: Understanding the processes that regulate plant sink formation and development at the molecular level will contribute to the areas of crop breeding, food production and plant evolutionary studies. We report the annotation and analysis of the draft genome sequence of the radish Raphanus sativus var. hortensis (long and thick root radish) and transcriptome analysis during root development. Based on the hybrid assembly approach of next-generation sequencing, a total of 383 Mb (N50 scaffold: 138.17 kb) of sequences of the radish genome was constructed containing 54,357 genes. Syntenic and phylogenetic analyses indicated that divergence between Raphanus and Brassica coincide with the time of whole genome triplication (WGT), suggesting that WGT triggered diversification of Brassiceae crop plants. Further transcriptome analysis showed that the gene functions and pathways related to carbohydrate metabolism were prominently activated in thickening roots, particularly in cell proliferating tissues. Notably, the expression levels of sucrose synthase 1 (SUS1) were correlated with root thickening rates. We also identified the genes involved in pungency synthesis and their transcription factors.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors discovered a vertical hole on the Moon which is a possible lava tube skylight, using data from SELENE's two high-resolution cameras: the Terrain Camera and the Multi-band Imager.
Abstract: [1] We discovered a vertical hole on the Moon, which is a possible lava tube skylight, using data from SELENE's two high-resolution cameras: the Terrain Camera and the Multi-band Imager. The hole is nearly circular, 65 m in diameter, and located in a sinuous rille at the Marius Hills region, a volcanic province on the lunar nearside. We observed the hole at various solar illumination conditions and estimated its depth to be 80 to 88 m. The depth/diameter ratio is much larger than for typical impact craters. There are neither conspicuous deposits indicating volcanic eruptions from the hole, nor are there pit craters adjacent to the hole that could be related to an underlying fault or dike. The area around the hole is covered by a thin (20 to 25 m) lava sheet, which may help protect the lava tube from collapse due to meteorite bombardment.
