TL;DR: In this paper, the authors propose a method and a unit for controlling the flow of at least one TCP connection between a sender and a receiver, which is of the type which consists in controlling, at the level of a given multiplexing node through which TCP segments relevant to the connection pass, a window size parameter contained in acknowledgement segments sent back by the receiver.
Abstract: The invention proposes a method and a unit for controlling the flow of at least one TCP connection between a sender and a receiver. The method is of the type which consists in controlling, at the level of a given multiplexing node through which TCP segments relevant to the connection pass, a window size parameter contained in acknowledgement segments sent back by the receiver. The method comprises the steps of: a) receiving an acknowledgement from the receiver on the up link (receiver to sender) of the connection at the level of said given multiplexing node; b) controlling a window size parameter contained in, said acknowledgement segment on the basis of the difference between, firstly, a first context value associated with the TCP connection, defined as being the sequence number of the last segment that was transmitted from said given multiplexing node on the down link (sender to receiver) of the connection, to which the length of said segment is added, and, secondly, the sequence number indicated in said acknowledgement segment; c) transmitting the acknowledgement segment to the sender the up link of the connection from said multiplexing node with the window size parameter thus controlled.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors describe a semiconductor storage device connectable to a host information processing apparatus having a flash memory section that stores data in sectors and wherein the flash memory area includes an address management table that stores information about the relation between logical sector numbers for data management in a host Information Processing apparatus and physical sector numbers in the flashmemory section.
Abstract: A semiconductor storage device connectable to a host information processing apparatus having a flash memory section that stores data in sectors and wherein the flash memory section includes an address management table that stores information about the relation between logical sector numbers for data management in a host information processing apparatus and physical sector numbers for data management in the flash memory section. The flash memory section also includes a table state map that stores information about the physical locations at which the sector number information in the address management tables is stored. The semiconductor storage device also includes a flash memory control circuit for controlling data write and data read processing for the flash memory section. The control circuit refers to the table state map when the host information processing apparatus requests data write or data read to identify the physical location at which the corresponding address relation information is stored and converts the logical sector number received from the host information processing apparatus into a physical sector number based on the value stored at the identified location in the address management tables.

TL;DR: An efficient image interpolation scheme by using regularized local linear regression (RLLR), which can efficiently handle the statistical outliers compared with ordinary least squares based methods and which outperform the existing methods in both objective and subjective visual quality.
Abstract: The linear regression model is a very attractive tool to design effective image interpolation schemes. Some regression-based image interpolation algorithms have been proposed in the literature, in which the objective functions are optimized by ordinary least squares (OLS). However, it is shown that interpolation with OLS may have some undesirable properties from a robustness point of view: even small amounts of outliers can dramatically affect the estimates. To address these issues, in this paper we propose a novel image interpolation algorithm based on regularized local linear regression (RLLR). Starting with the linear regression model where we replace the OLS error norm with the moving least squares (MLS) error norm leads to a robust estimator of local image structure. To keep the solution stable and avoid overfitting, we incorporate the l2-norm as the estimator complexity penalty. Moreover, motivated by recent progress on manifold-based semi-supervised learning, we explicitly consider the intrinsic manifold structure by making use of both measured and unmeasured data points. Specifically, our framework incorporates the geometric structure of the marginal probability distribution induced by unmeasured samples as an additional local smoothness preserving constraint. The optimal model parameters can be obtained with a closed-form solution by solving a convex optimization problem. Experimental results on benchmark test images demonstrate that the proposed method achieves very competitive performance with the state-of-the-art interpolation algorithms, especially in image edge structure preservation.

TL;DR: It is demonstrated that PVR is also required for the morphogenetic process, thorax closure, during metamorphosis, and the results of genetic and biochemical experiments indicate that Pvr activates the JNK pathway.
Abstract: PVR, the Drosophila homolog of the PDGF/VEGF receptor, has been implicated in border cell migration during oogenesis and hemocyte migration during embryogenesis. It was earlier shown that Mbc, a CDM family protein, and its effector, Rac, transduced the guidance signal from PVR during border cell migration. Here we demonstrate that PVR is also required for the morphogenetic process, thorax closure, during metamorphosis. The results of genetic and biochemical experiments indicate that PVR activates the JNK pathway. We present evidence showing Crk (an adaptor molecule), Mbc, ELMO (a homolog of Caenorhabditis elegans CED-12 and mammalian ELMO), and Rac to be mediators of JNK activation by PVR. In addition, we suppose that not only Rac but also Cdc42 is activated and involved in JNK activation downstream of PVR.

TL;DR: In this paper, a heat pump air conditioning system with an active digital control of the refrigeration cycle thereof is proposed to improve the coefficient of performance, which can incorporate solar collectors in parallel with the outdoor heat exchanger and a water storage tank in the system to maximize the utilization of solar heating and nocturnal cooling as an additional heat source or heat sink.
Abstract: A heat pump air conditioning system with an active digital control of the refrigeration cycle thereof to improve the coefficient of performance. The system can incorporate solar collectors in parallel with the outdoor heat exchanger and a water storage tank in the system to maximize the utilization of solar heating and nocturnal cooling as an additional heat source or heat sink means when such are available to further improve the coefficient of performance. The system also incorporates individual temperature control mechanisms in each room to circulate an adequate amount of water from the storage tank in accordance with the heat demand of each room, thus contributing to realization of an energy efficient central air conditioning system.
