TL;DR: An elevator main rope elongation sensor for sensing the elongation of a main rope of an elevator sensing an electric resistance measuring instrument (11) which measures the electric resistance of a conductive filament (32) contained in the main rope (3), a judging means (12) which judges whether or not the resistance value measured by the measuring instrument is within a predetermined normal range, and an alarm means (13) which raises an alarm when the judging means judges the measured value to be abnormal as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: An elevator main rope elongation sensor for sensing the elongation of a main rope (3) of an elevator sensing an electric resistance measuring instrument (11) which measures the electric resistance of a conductive filament (32) contained in the main rope (3), a judging means (12) which judges whether or not the resistance value measured by the electric resistance measuring instrument (11) is within a predetermined normal range, and an alarm means (13) which raises an alarm when the judging means (12) judges the measured value to be abnormal. The judgment is made by taking the elomgation /contraction of the main rop (3) which is caused by the temperature and hunidity in the hoistway into consideration to improve the precision of measurement of the elongation of the main rope (3).

TL;DR: In this article, thin films of (Ba, Sr)TiO3 with high dielectric constant were prepared on Pt/SiO2/Si substrates of 6-inch diameter by chemical vapor deposition using liquid sources.
Abstract: Thin films of (Ba, Sr)TiO3 with high dielectric constant were prepared on Pt/SiO2/Si substrates of 6-inch-diameter by chemical vapor deposition using liquid sources. Ba(DPM)2 and Sr(DPM)2 dissolved into tetrahydrofuran were vaporized in a vaporizer at 523 K, and Ti(O-i-C3H7)4 was bubbled at 313 K. The mixture of the source vapors with O2 and N2O was supplied to the reactor (10 Torr) at uniform velocities through a shower-type nozzle, which realized uniform profiles in the deposited film thickness and composition. The electrical properties are significantly influenced by the film composition, and the typical properties obtained for a 800-A-thick film prepared at the substrate temperature of 823 K are an equivalent SiO2 thickness t eq of 5.2 A, a leakage current J L of 2.4× 10-6 A/cm2 (at 1.65 V), and a dielectric loss tan δ of 0.07.

TL;DR: In this paper, an electric power steering apparatus can ensure an appropriate preload to an outer race of a rolling element bearing by adjusting the thickness of a spacer without replacement of a wave washer for a change in an axial dimension between a bottom surface of a bearing box and the bearing.
Abstract: A motor for an electric power steering apparatus can ensure an appropriate preload to an outer race of a rolling element bearing by adjusting the thickness of a spacer without replacement of a wave washer for a change in an axial dimension between a bottom surface of a bearing box and the bearing. The motor includes a rotor, a casing that receives the rotor and has the bearing box in which the bearing rotatably supporting a shaft of the rotor is received, an annular wave washer that is arranged between the bottom surface of the bearing box and the bearing, and applies a preload to the outer race of the bearing, and an annular spacer that is arranged between the bottom surface of the bearing box and the bearing so as to be in abutment with the wave washer for adjusting the preload applied to the outer race.

TL;DR: In this article, a disco photometer which was an optical sensing array based on multiple LEDs was constructed for colorimetric analysis, which made use of the inherent well-defined LED emission band to provide selectivity for chromophors.
Abstract: A disco photometer which was an optical sensing array based on multiple LEDs was constructed for colorimetric analysis. This approach has been used to analyse single dyes and dye mixtures containing up to three dye components. This technique made use of the inherent well-defined LED emission band to provide selectivity for chromophors, which have equally well-defined absorbance band to give very good analytical data. The results showed that this LED array configuration could be used to reduce the complexity of data obtained from the mixtures and also improve the quality of the output.
