A formação dos conceitos em Vigotski: replicando um experimento

Abstract: The main goal of this research was to replicate an experiment established by Vigotski about concept formation. The experiment investigated the development and organization of conceptual thinking in the adult population, and questioned the steps followed in the formation of a new concept and how adults can understand the meaning of a new word. The random sample consisted of 20 university students from various courses, aged between 18 and 24 years. The method of research consists of an application of an instrument composed by a set of wooden blocks of colors, shapes, heights and widths associated with nonsense words with which the participant should seek a solution to a proposed problem. The recorded and transcribed speeches in the sessions were subjected to analysis. It was observed that the application of the instrument that there was no regularity relating to steps taken during the formation of the concept. We demonstrate that generalization is the main function of language, without which it is impossible to acquire the experience and established itself as the basis of complex thought.

Classes de comprimento e proporção sexual em Diplodon expansus (Mollusca, Bivalvia, Hyriidae) no rio Piraquara, Paraná, Brasil

Abstract: O presente estudo tem como objetivo analisar a distribuicao de classes de tamanho e proporcao sexual ampliando o conhecimento do comportamento reprodutivo de Diplodon expansus (Kuster, 1856) e da biodiversidade dos corpos de agua da Area de Protecao Ambiental do Piraquara, Parana, Brasil. A area de estudo corresponde a um trecho do rio Piraquara de aguas loticas, e mata ciliar relativamente bem preservada. Foram realizadas quatro coletas no periodo de marco de 2006 a dezembro de 2006. No rio Piraquara o D. expansus ocorre em substratos arenoso e lodoso. O comprimento dos exemplares variou entre 17 mm e 65 mm, sendo que a maior frequencia de classes de comprimento foi registrada para as classes intermediarias. A analise histologica das gonadas possibilitou a determinacao de uma razao sexual 1:1, nao tendo sido identificado nenhum exemplar hermafrodita, caracterizando uma populacao tipicamente dioica. Analises qualitativas e quantitativas demonstram uma gametogenese continua, com picos de liberacao larval no verao.

Indicadores de sustentabilidade no contexto do design de produtos

Abstract: Esta pesquisa tem como tema central o uso de indicadores de sustentabilidade (IDS) como apoio ao monitoramento, avaliacao e gestao ambiental no contexto do desenho industrial. O objetivo da pesquisa foi desenvolver IDS no «design» de sistemas de produtos e servicos. Em termos metodologicos consiste em pesquisa exploratoria, tendo como fonte de dados bases bibliograficas e documentais. Os resultados apontam prioridades e deficiencias na gestao de «design» sobre a realidade brasileira, ordenando composicao dos indicadores de sustentabilidade para resultado replicavel, aumentando o registro de metodos e medidas dos resultados e consequencias do desempenho do desenho industrial sustentavel. E ainda identificando indicadores no contexto do desenho industrial, por meio de um prontuario, visando minimizar ou eliminar os impactos danosos do sistema de producao no entorno social, economico, cultural e ambiental, onde o mesmo se insere. Estes resultados permitem concluir que e necessario o resgate de outros criterios de racionalidade que nao sejam apenas a instrumentalizacao e o economicismo.

Root Preparation of Deciduous Teeth: Efficacy of WaveOne and ProTaper Systems with and without Passive Ultrasonic Irrigation.

Abstract: Introduction: The aim of this study was to compare root preparation of deciduous teeth with WaveOne Large (WO) and ProTaper F4 (PT) instruments with or without passive ultrasonic irrigation (PUI) Methods and Materials: Forty-eight deciduous teeth were scanned before and after root preparation and divided in four groups ( n =12): WO+EDTA (WO); WO+EDTA with PUI (WOPUI); PTF+EDTA (PT); and PT+EDTA with PUI (PTPUI) Root canal enlargement by micro-computed tomography and root canal cleaning by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were analyzed Data were submitted to two-way ANOVA and Tukey’s tests to analyze the root canal volume variation, and Kruskal-Wallis followed by Friedman and Wilcoxon tests were used to evaluate the cleaning efficacy The level of significance was set at 005 Results: No significant difference occurred in total volume between groups ( P >005) On analysis by thirds of the root canal, there was a difference in volume between WO (cervical) compared to WO and PT (apical), and PTPUI (middle and apical) ( P <005) When cleaning of the thirds within the same group was compared, there was a significant difference in all groups ( P <005) Among the groups, in the thirds, in the cervical a difference occurred ( P =0028), and the pairwise comparisons indicated statistically difference between WO and PT, and WO and PTPUI ( P <005) In the pairwise comparisons among thirds, in the groups, difrences occured in all of them when compared the cervical and apical thirds ( P <005) Conclusion: Passive ultrasonic irrigation has not improved the smear layer removal in deciduous teeth Despite the differences in performance between WO and PT instruments, both were suitable for preparation of deciduous teeth Keywords: Deciduous Teeth; Endodontic; Passive Ultrasonic Irrigation; Root Canal Preparation; Ultrasonic
