Erosao dentaria.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors identify and analyze the mental constructs used by managers to assess their competitive environment and highlight the association among such constructs with reference context (RC) and sector of activity.
Abstract: The cognitive approach may be useful in understanding the elements that pervade the process of analyzing organizations' competitive environment. Respecting its complexity, the approach helps in understanding managers' intentions and their processes of world representation. Consistent with this proposal, this article aims to identify and analyze the mental constructs used by managers to assess their competitive environment and highlights the association among such constructs with reference context (RC) and sector of activity. The method allied quantitative and qualitative procedures and differentiates itself from other studies in the use of Kelly's Repgrid. This technique has as its main premise that the understanding of the world is associated with the categorization of elements of perception by individuals. The sample consisted of 48 small industrial firms located in Curitiba-PR. The results indicated that the set of constructs used is unique to each leader; however cognitive commonalities could be noticed in the more frequent use of six constructs. The analysis shows that managers' adoption of constructs is not dependent on RC and on sector of activity as well. The findings allow inferences about the mental constructs of the respondents in terms of their frames of reference and the assessment of the competitive environment.

TL;DR: In this paper, the authors evaluated a system composed of three natural wetlands and found that the vegetation structure was represented by four species of higher relative cover: Pistia stratiotes L. (water lettuce), Echinochloa polystachya (Kunth) Hitchc. (creeping river grass), Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms (water hyacinth) and Alternanthera philoxeroides(Mart.) Griseb.
Abstract: Phytoremediation is an emerging technology in landfill leachate posttreatment. The evaluation of a system composed of three natural wetlands. The wetlands vegetation cover was monitored during 2 years by estimating the coverage area of the macrophytes. Chemical analyzes of the effluent were conducted monthly. The monitoring and identification of macrophytes indicated that the vegetation structure was represented by four species of higher relative cover: Pistia stratiotes L. (water lettuce), Echinochloa polystachya (Kunth) Hitchc. (creeping river grass), Eichhornia crassipes (Mart.) Solms (water hyacinth) and Alternanthera philoxeroides (Mart.) Griseb. The system of natural wetlands had an average efficiency of 75 % for biochemical oxygen demand, 63 % for chemical oxygen demand, 84 % for ammoniacal nitrogen, 89 % for total nitrogen and 70 % for phosphorus. The concentrations of heavy metals in the roots, as well as in the branches of E. crassipes and E. polystachya, lead us to the conclusion that such species perform phytoextraction for Cd and Pb accumulating the metals in the biomass. The results show that this is a viable alternative that can be associated with forms of conventional treatment of leachate, such as the treatment with aerobic and facultative ponds.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors investigate the political-cultural process related to the debate on the reform of Brazilian Courts of Accounts (CAs), law enforcement organizations responsible for controlling public resources.
Abstract: The objective of this research was to investigate the political-cultural process related to the debate on the reform of Brazilian Courts of Accounts (CAs), law enforcement organizations responsible for controlling public resources. The research focused on analyzing how legitimacy accounts conducted by different categories of actors manifested themselves in the debate about the reform of Brazilian CAs from 2000 to 2017. We collected data from documentary sources, such as parliamentary speeches, public hearings debates, and news. Interviews were also conducted with representatives of the various categories of actors, including professional corporations, media, academia, judiciary, and organized civil society. Through the analysis of the mobilization process and the central arguments that called for the legitimacy of reform (legitimacy accounts), the results pointed to: (a) the centrality of professional corporations, both in the mediation and translation of the debate, and in the design of intervention strategies in the organizational field, and; (b) the identification of organizational, relational, procedural, jurisdictional and responsive aspects related to the multidimensional legitimacy of CAs. The results contribute to the areas of organizational studies, public administration and administration of justice.

TL;DR: In this article, the effects of scale and discharge variation on the dynamic similitude and hydraulic efficiency of scaled contact tanks were studied, each assessed in a prototype and three further geometrically similar models of L-shaped and serpentine geometries.
Abstract: This paper addresses the design and experimentation aspects of scaled contact tanks, a key type of treatment units in water works worldwide. The paper covers the effects of scale and discharge variation on the dynamic similitude and hydraulic efficiency of such tanks. The flow patterns tending to complete mixing (CM) and plug flow (PF) were studied, each assessed in a prototype and three further geometrically similar models of L-shaped and serpentine geometries. Tracer experiments were conducted under five discharge values. The sensitivity of each flow pattern to the changing conditions was assessed based on the residence time distribution curves and hydraulic efficiency index values, contrasted for prototypes and their scaled models. Although the CM flow pattern was insensitive to the variation of scale and discharge, within the ranges tested in this study, the PF pattern was affected by both variations when the flow regime was not turbulent in a model tank. A dependency of the dispersion number ...
