TL;DR: In this article, the authors present qualitative research of a case study type, carried out with a group of 27 educators who were strengthening their knowledge of online education to a greater depth.
Abstract: This article presents qualitative research of a case study type, carried out with a group of 27 educators who were strengthening their knowledge of online education to a greater depth. Online education requires pedagogical mediation and the skills and competencies to work with technological resources which promote interaction, collaboration, and co-learning. From this perspective, the following research question was posed: what is the knowledge needed for educators to work in online education in order to promote knowledge production? The data collected was analysed according to Bardin (2011) and the assistance of Atlas Ti software. Based on the research findings it was possible to identify three main knowledge areas for mediating teaching and learning processes designed to produce knowledge, essential for teaching online.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors introduce a guide to apply the elements of the Clinical Caritas Process, aiming to provide transpersonal care in Brazilian nursing, which can also be used to teach this theory.
Abstract: Objective: To introduce a guide to apply the elements of the Clinical Caritas Process. Methods: It is a study introducing a guide developed to identify the necessary caring actions, aiming to provide transpersonal care. It was designed from a bibliographic review and discussion with peers, who apply the theory underpinning the present study. Results: The instrument features a layout with ten lines and two columns, decoding each structural component in its enunciation with its respective care manifestations. Additionally, it showed to be a facilitator for the use of the Human Caring Theory. Conclusion: It is believed that the guide can be reproduced in order to direct the practice of transpersonal care in different settings of Brazilian nursing. Moreover, it can also be used to teach this theory.

TL;DR: N-sleeve is a new procedure, technically more challenging than standard LSG, but in the experience, it seems to show similar outcomes in terms of weight loss, effects on comorbidities, and lower rate of leak and gastroesophageal reflux disease.
Abstract: Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is currently the most performed bariatric procedure worldwide. We have developed a modification to the usual surgical technique of LSG by adding a ...

TL;DR: Blood cells from Poecilia vivipara from the Belém River in the city of Curitiba, Paraná, Brazil were evaluated for genotoxic effects stemming from human-produced pollution, as expressed by the micronucleus, suggesting a positive relation between the water quality of the BelÉm River and micron nucleus expression as a result of the pollution to which this river is subjected.
Abstract: The effects of anthropogenic activities on water, environment, and consequently quality of life can be evaluated using genetic, biochemical, and microbiological parameters. Regarding genetic parameters, the micronucleus test is a fast, efficient, inexpensive method for detecting alterations in genetic material induced by a variety of genotoxic agents. In the present study, blood cells from Poecilia vivipara from the Belem River in the city of Curitiba, Parana, Brazil were evaluated for genotoxic effects stemming from human-produced pollution, as expressed by the micronucleus. The water in the river was evaluated with regard to physiochemical and microbiological parameters as well as for heavy metals. The analysis revealed the presence of copper, zinc, and nickel, with high concentrations of copper. The micronucleus analysis revealed significant differences in relation to the groups (study and control), suggesting a positive relation between the water quality of the Belem River and micronucleus expression as a result of the pollution to which this river is subjected.

TL;DR: In this paper, the effects of nonverbal consequences, monitoring, and social consequences on instruction-following were evaluated, and the results support the proposition that social control is important for maintaining instruction following.
Abstract: The effects of the magnitude of nonverbal consequences, monitoring, and social consequences on instruction-following were evaluated. Twenty-four undergraduates were exposed to a matching-to-sample procedure. The undergraduates underwent four experimental phases that differed regarding the presence or absence of the observer and the correspondence or non-correspondence of the instructions with the nonverbal contingency. In Experiments 1 and 2, the magnitudes of the nonverbal consequences were manipulated, and in Experiment 3, the effects of verbal reprimands on instruction-following were evaluated. The results revealed that alterations in the magnitudes of nonverbal consequences did not influenced the performances of the participants and that monitoring increased the probability that the participants would follow the instructions but not to an extent sufficient to maintain performance when the consequences did not correspond to the nonverbal contingency. The inclusion of verbal reprimands was necessary to achieve this effect. These results support the proposition that social control is important for maintaining instruction-following.
