Journal ArticleDOI

Eruption path of permanent maxillary canines after secondary alveolar bone graft in patients with nonsyndromic complete unilateral cleft lip and palate.

TL;DR: In this article , the position of the maxillary canine after secondary alveolar bone grafting (SABG) improves dentoalveolar outcomes in the final occlusal rehabilitation of patients with cleft lip and palate (CLP).

Novel IRF6 mutations in Chinese Han families with Van der Woude syndrome

TL;DR: Wang et al. as mentioned in this paper performed sequencing studies of six families with Van der Woude Syndrome (VWS) in the Chinese Han population and found a novel splice site variant c.175-6T>A, two novel missense variants (p.Lys66Arg and p.Pro107Thr), in addition with a previously reported missense variant (pLeu87Phe), which were all located in and nearby exon 4 of IRF6.

Predictors of Success After Furlow Palatoplasty for Repair of Cleft Palate: Does Syndrome Matter?

TL;DR: In this article, the authors determine predictors of success following Veau 1 and 2 cleft palate repair in patients with and without syndromes, based on a retrospective review of prospectively collected data.
Journal ArticleDOI

ROCK1 is associated with non‐syndromic cleft palate

TL;DR: This investigation reveals for the first time data supporting a role for ROCK1 in nsCP aetiology, and shows that the rs35996865-G allele was under-transmitted in cases of nsCP.

Retinoic Acid Embryopathy

TL;DR: It is possible that a major mechanism of isotretinoin teratogenesis is a deleterious effect on cephalic neural-crest cell activity that results in the observed craniofacial, cardiac, and thymic malformations.
Journal ArticleDOI

Apaf1 (CED-4 homolog) regulates programmed cell death in mammalian development.

TL;DR: It is suggested that Apaf1 is essential for Casp3 activation in embryonic brain and is a key regulator of developmental programmed cell death in mammals.

Clinical manifestations in 105 persons with nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome.

TL;DR: The frequency of the clinical and radiological anomalies in Nevoid basal cell carcinoma syndrome in a large population of US patients is delineated and guidelines for diagnosis and management are discussed.
Journal ArticleDOI

Transforming growth factor-β3 is required for secondary palate fusion

TL;DR: This result demonstrates that TGF–β3 affects palatal shelf fusion by an intrinsic, primary mechanism rather than by effects secondary to craniofacial defects.
