Journal ArticleDOI

Caspase-12 compensates for lack of caspase-2 and caspase-3 in female germ cells

TL;DR: Interestingly, DKO oocytes were more resistant to apoptosis induced by methotrexate (MTX) than WT oocytes, and these results revealed that in female germ cells, insults that directly interfere with their metabolic status require caspase-2 and caspasing-3 as obligatory executioners of the ensuing cell death cascade.
Journal ArticleDOI

Protection against antigenically variable Borrelia burgdorferi conferred by recombinant vaccines.

TL;DR: It is concluded that Osp vaccination of mice effectively prevents infection by the agent of Lyme disease in a simulated natural cycle of transmission.
Journal Article

Breaking immunologic ignorance to an antigenic peptide of simian virus 40 large T antigen.

TL;DR: A model in which a nononcogenic, yet antigenic, fragment of the SV40-T (SV40- Tfrag) is expressed specifically in pancreatic islet beta-cells demonstrates that in some circumstances the presence of (primed) reactive T cells is not sufficient to break tolerance; rather, costimulation is additionally required to elicit an autoimmune response.
Journal ArticleDOI

Oct-1 Regulates IL-17 Expression by Directing Interchromosomal Associations in Conjunction with CTCF in T Cells

TL;DR: Collectively, the data indicate Th17 lineage differentiation is restrained by the Th2 locus via interchromosomal associations organized by Oct-1 and CTCF.

Compositions and methods for the prevention and diagnosis of lyme disease

TL;DR: A screening method for the selection of those OspA and OspB polypeptides and anti-OspB antibodies that are useful for the prevention and detection of Lyme disease is presented in this paper.
