Hepatoprotective effect of the methanolic extract of Curculigo orchioides in CCL4 -treated male rats
Venukumar,Latha +1 more
TL;DR: Profound steatosis, ballooning degeneration and nodule formation observed in the hepatic architecture of CCl 4 treated rats were found to acquire near-normalcy in drug co-administered rats, thus corroborating the biochemical observations.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antioxidant protection of gallic acid against toxicity induced by Pb in blood, liver and kidney of rats
Patrícia Reckziegel,Verônica Tironi Dias,Dalila M. Benvegnú,Nardeli Boufleur,Raquel Cristine Silva Barcelos,H.J. Segat,Camila Simonetti Pase,C. Santos,Erico M.M. Flores,Marilise Escobar Burger +9 more
TL;DR: GA decreased Pb-induced oxidative damages not by decreasing Pb bioaccumulation, but by improving antioxidant defenses, thus GA may be promising in the treatment of Pb intoxications.
Journal ArticleDOI
Antihepatotoxic activity of monomethyl fumarate isolated from Fumaria indica
K.S Rao,Shri Hari Mishra +1 more
TL;DR: Monomethyl fumarate, isolated for the first time from the methanolic extract of the whole plant of Fumaria indica, showed significant antihepatotoxic activity against thioacetamide in vitro, and against hepatotoxicities induced by carbon tetrachloride, paracetamol and rifampicin in vivo to an extent almost similar to that of silymarin, a known antihePatotoxic agent.
Journal ArticleDOI
Taurine, a conditionally essential amino acid, ameliorates arsenic-induced cytotoxicity in murine hepatocytes.
TL;DR: The cytoprotective activity of taurine against arsenic poisoning was found to be comparable to that of a known antioxidant, vitamin C.
Journal ArticleDOI
Cardioprotective effect of tender coconut water in experimental myocardial infarction
P. Anurag,Thankappan Rajamohan +1 more
TL;DR: The results indicated that feeding TCW afforded protection against induction of myocardial infarction, and recovery from myocardIAL damages was evident from the values of marker enzymes viz creatine phosphokinase (CPK), serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (SGOT, serum glutamate pyruvate transamination (SGPT) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH).
