TRY plant trait database : Enhanced coverage and open access

Jens Kattge, +754 more
TL;DR: The extent of the trait data compiled in TRY is evaluated and emerging patterns of data coverage and representativeness are analyzed to conclude that reducing data gaps and biases in the TRY database remains a key challenge and requires a coordinated approach to data mobilization and trait measurements.
Journal ArticleDOI

Residential green space in childhood is associated with lower risk of psychiatric disorders from adolescence into adulthood

TL;DR: It is shown that high levels of green space presence during childhood are associated with lower risk of a wide spectrum of psychiatric disorders later in life, supporting efforts to better integrate natural environments into urban planning and childhood life.
Journal ArticleDOI

Strong upslope shifts in Chimborazo's vegetation over two centuries since Humboldt

TL;DR: Following in Humboldt's footsteps and revisiting his pioneering documentation of vegetation elevation ranges, it is shown that the limit of plant growth has already been strongly pushed upslope, providing evidence that global warming is strongly reshaping tropical plant distributions.
Journal ArticleDOI

Limited sampling hampers “big data” estimation of species richness in a tropical biodiversity hotspot

TL;DR: This study uses sample-size-correcting methods to examine patterns of tropical plant diversity in Ecuador, one of the most species-rich and climatically heterogeneous biodiversity hotspots and recommends this method for estimation of species richness with “big data” collections.
