Pan-cancer analysis of whole genomes

Peter J. Campbell, +1332 more
- 06 Feb 2020 -
TL;DR: The flagship paper of the ICGC/TCGA Pan-Cancer Analysis of Whole Genomes Consortium describes the generation of the integrative analyses of 2,658 whole-cancer genomes and their matching normal tissues across 38 tumour types, the structures for international data sharing and standardized analyses, and the main scientific findings from across the consortium studies.
Journal ArticleDOI

Obligate role of anti-apoptotic MCL-1 in the survival of hematopoietic stem cells.

TL;DR: Myeloid leukemia–1 (MCL-1) is a critical and specific regulator essential for ensuring the homeostasis of early hematopoietic progenitor populations, including HSCs.
Journal ArticleDOI

Distinctive and indispensable roles of PU.1 in maintenance of hematopoietic stem cells and their differentiation.

TL;DR: HSCs express PU.1, and its constitutive expression is necessary for maintenance of the HSC pool in the bone marrow, which plays indispensable and distinct roles in hematopoietic development through supporting HSC self-renewal as well as commitment and maturation of myeloid and lymphoid lineages.
Journal ArticleDOI

Expression of DNA methyltransferases DNMT1, 3A, and 3B in normal hematopoiesis and in acute and chronic myelogenous leukemia.

TL;DR: DNMTs were substantially overexpressed in leukemia cells in a leukemia type- and stage-specific manner and it was observed that the p15(INAK4B) gene, a cell cycle regulator, was methylated in 24 of 33 (72%) cases of AML.
