TL;DR: In this article, a transparent AlGaN:Mg contact layer, a Rh mirror electrode, an AlN template on a patterned sapphire substrate, and encapsulation resin were introduced to improve the light extraction.
Abstract: Enhancing the light-extraction efficiency is the key issue for realizing highly efficient AlGaN-based ultraviolet light-emitting diodes (UV-LEDs). We introduced several features to improve the light extraction: a transparent AlGaN:Mg contact layer, a Rh mirror electrode, an AlN template on a patterned sapphire substrate, and encapsulation resin. The combination of the AlGaN:Mg contact layer and the Rh mirror electrode significantly improved the output power and the external quantum efficiency (EQE) of UV-LEDs. By introducing the aforementioned features, a maximum EQE of >20% at an emission wavelength of 275 nm and a 20-mA direct current was achieved.

TL;DR: An electrophoretic display device as mentioned in this paper is a display device in which a fine-divided powder form suspended in a suspending medium is interposed between a pair of electrodes, at least one of which is transparent.
Abstract: An electrophoretic display device in which an electrophoretic suspension layer including a dispersion of at least one electrophoretic material in a finely divided powder form suspended in a suspending medium is interposed between a pair of electrodes, at least one of which is transparent. A colored layer of a desired pattern is provided at the transparent electrode. An electric field is imposed between the pair of electrodes so as to change the optical property such as reflective color or luminescent color of the suspension layer by changing the spatial distribution of the electrophoretic material in the suspending medium electrophoretically.

TL;DR: In this article, a method of segmenting hand gestures is presented, which automatically segments hand gestures to be detected into words or apprehensible units structured by a plurality of words when recognizing the hand gestures without the user's presentation where to segment.
Abstract: An object of the present invention is to provide a method of segmenting hand gestures which automatically segments hand gestures to be detected into words or apprehensible units structured by a plurality of words when recognizing the hand gestures without the user's presentation where to segment. Transition feature data in which a feature of a transition gesture being not observed during a gesture representing a word but is described when transiting from a gesture to another is previously stored. Thereafter, a motion of image corresponding to the part of body in which the transition gesture is observed is detected (step S 106 ), the detected motion of image is compared with the transition feature data (step S 107 ), and a time position where the transition gesture is observed is determined so as to segment the hand gestures (step S 108 ).

TL;DR: An ink-jet head which is used in an inkjet recorder and has outlets provided at high density is described in this paper, where the head comprises ink outlets, a pressure chamber communicating with the ink outlets and a piezoelectric vibrating section.
Abstract: An ink-jet head which is used in an ink-jet recorder and has outlets provided at high density The head comprises ink outlets, a pressure chamber communicating with the ink outlets, and a piezoelectric vibrating section which includes a piezoelectric film containing Pb, Ti and Zr and electrodes provided on both sides of the piezoelectric film, and is installed in a part of the pressure chamber The piezoelectric film consists of a 1st layer and a 2nd layer which have the Perovskite structures respectively and are in contact with each other The 1st layer does not contain Zr or contains Zr with a content less than the content of Zr in the 2nd layer

TL;DR: In this paper, the extents of base-view and dependent-view stream files are arranged in an interleaved manner in a stereo/monoscopic shared area and a stereoscopic specific area.
Abstract: On a recording medium, stereoscopic and monoscopic specific areas are located one after another next to a stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area. The stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area is a contiguous area to be accessed both in stereoscopic video playback and monoscopic video playback. The stereoscopic specific area is a contiguous area to be accessed immediately before a long jump occurring in stereoscopic video playback. In both the stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area and the stereoscopic specific area, extents of base-view and dependent-view stream files are arranged in an interleaved manner. The extents on the stereoscopic specific area are next in order after the extents on the stereoscopic/monoscopic shared area. The monoscopic specific area is a contiguous area to be accessed immediately before a long jump occurring in monoscopic video playback. The monoscopic specific area has a copy of the entirety of the extents of the base-view stream file recorded on the stereoscopic specific area.
