TL;DR: In this article, a multiple channel broadcasting system generates an electronic program guide including graphic images to indicate a status of the programs in the guide, including whether a user has selected pay-per-view broadcasts for purchase, whether a broadcast system timer has been set to tune to a particular channel program at a designated time, and whether a channel program is designated as a favorite program.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying graphic images to indicate a status of programs in an electronic program guide are provided. A multiple channel broadcasting system generates an electronic program guide including graphic images to indicate a status of the programs in the electronic program guide. The status includes whether a user has selected pay-per-view broadcasts for purchase, whether a broadcast system timer has been set to tune to a particular channel program at a designated time, whether a channel program has been set for recording, and whether a program is designated as a favorite program. The broadcast system displays the graphic images or icons within an electronic program guide in areas delineating particular programs that a user has selected for purchase so that the user can view the status of the programs while viewing the electronic program guide. A method and apparatus for displaying a graphical representation of time in relation to programming times are also provided. A time bar is displayed with the electronic program guide that identifies times of programming on the channels in the broadcasting system. A graphical representation of time is generated and displayed in proximity to the time bar to indicate the current time so the user can view the current time in relation to the times of programming on the channels of the broadcast system.

TL;DR: In this paper, a positioning system includes the ability to receive GPS signals and to receive and transmit packet radio signals, and the positioning system also receives differential corrections relative to its pseudo position using packet radio.
Abstract: A positioning system includes the ability to receive GPS signals and to receive and transmit packet radio signals. The positioning system receives GPS transmissions to determine its pseudo position. The positioning system also receives differential corrections relative to its pseudo position using packet radio. By combining the GPS transmissions and the differential corrections, the positioning system calculates its actual position. A user has the ability to obtain information relevant to their actual position by transmitting a request to a reference station, using packet radio. The reference station maintains an information system and will transmit the requested information back to the user. The information system includes a data storage memory and retrieval system and a direct link to the internet. The user is able to provide information for storage within the information system or on the internet in order to compile the information available from the reference station. The positioning system also includes the ability to automatically transmit its position periodically allowing the reference station to track and monitor its actual position. Information relative to its location, signals and alerts are transmitted to predetermined locations based on the position of the positioning system relative to a predetermined location or another positioning system. Alternatively, the positioning system determines its position using only packet radio. Reference stations at known locations transmit signals having predetermined amplitudes and signal strengths. A positioning system determines its position relative to the reference stations based on the amplitude and strength of the signals received from the reference stations.

TL;DR: In an information processing apparatus, items to be displayed are easily controlled by a user operating a mouse to select an English word displayed in a scroll window with a pointer, and drags the selected word as mentioned in this paper.
Abstract: In an information processing apparatus, items to be displayed are easily controlled. A user operates a mouse to select an English word displayed in a scroll window with a pointer, and drags the selected word. Thus, English words to be displayed in the scroll window are restricted.

TL;DR: In this paper, a temperature measuring apparatus for measuring the temperature of a substrate in a heating apparatus heating a substrate by irradiation of light, and a method for measuring a substrate temperature, the measuring apparatus having a thermocouple and a covering member for covering it.
Abstract: A temperature measuring apparatus, for measuring a temperature of a substrate in a heating apparatus heating a substrate by irradiation of light, and a method for measuring a substrate temperature, the measuring apparatus having a thermocouple and a covering member for covering it. The covering member portion covering the thermocouple is made of a material with a high heat conductivity and its excluding the material with a high heat conductivity portion is made of a material with a high light reflection factor respectively, whereby it is possible to accurately measure the temperature of the substrate heated by irradiation light without the measurement being affected by the heating irradiation light and without contaminating the substrate and further, without depending on film thicknesses structure of the substrate.

TL;DR: In this paper, a combination of a television receiver and a television signal recording and/or reproducing apparatus, such as a so-called video tape recorder, forming a television system for receiving, recording, or reproducing television signals and displaying images thereof, is presented.
Abstract: A combination of a television receiver and a television signal recording and/or reproducing apparatus, such as a so-called video tape recorder, forming a television system for receiving, recording and/or reproducing television signals and displaying images thereof, wherein the television receiver portion contains two separate signal selecting and receiving circuitries each including a separately tunable tuner, an intermediate frequency stage and a detector stage, and specific television signals received by the respective circuitries are selectively applied by selecting switches in the television receiver portion to the display stage of the portion of the television receiver for display of images or to the portion of the signal recording and/or reproducing apparatus for recording
