TL;DR: Themes provide the mobile phone with changeable characteristics pertaining to the appearance and sound presented by mobile phones as discussed by the authors, which can be used to change the look and feel of mobile phones.
Abstract: Themes provide the mobile phone with changeable characteristics pertaining to the appearance and sound presented by the mobile phone. A theme profile associated with the mobile phone contains data pertaining to which theme to apply to the mobile phone and when to transition to another theme as well as where theme content data is located. The mobile phone then waits for a triggering event to occur. When such a triggering event occurs, it causes a transition from the currently active theme to another theme. A new theme based on an associated triggering event is applied to the mobile phone changing its look and feel.

TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a diagnostic method for a cable television network consistent with certain embodiments, which involves sending a polling message to a plurality of modems forming a part of the plurality of television set top boxes from a cable-TV head-end via a cable TV cable connection to the set-top boxes.
Abstract: A cable television diagnostic method for a cable television network consistent with certain embodiments involves sending a polling message to a plurality of modems forming a part of a plurality of television set top boxes from a cable television headend via a cable television cable connection to the set top boxes; wherein the polling message instructs the cable television set top boxes to obtain at least one operational parameter of each of the television set top boxes; receiving a plurality of response messages from the cable television set top boxes, each containing the at least one operational parameter of the television set top boxes; determining that one of the operational parameters from one of the television set top boxes is outside of a specified range of values; and aggregating the operational parameters of the plurality of set top boxes received in the response messages to determine if the same operational parameter is outside the range of specified values for more than the one of the television set top boxes. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.

TL;DR: In this article, an optical multilayer structure such that there is a degree of freedom of selection of constituent materials, quick response is possible even in the visible region, and the reliability of the wiring is high.
Abstract: An optical multilayer structure such that there is a degree of freedom of selection of constituent materials, quick response is possible even in the visible region, and the reliability of the wiring is high. In the optical mulitlayer structure (1), a first layer (11) formed in contact with a substrate (10) and absorbing light, a gap portion (12) having a variable size causing a light interference phenomenon, and a second layer (13) which is transparent are provided in this order on the substrate (10). The following formula (1) is satisfied where N1 (=n1-i·k1 where n1 is the refractive index, k1 is the extinction coefficient, i is the imaginary unit) is the complex refractive index of the first layer (11), n2 is the refractive index of the second layer (13), and the refractive index of the entrance medium is 1.0. TL;DR: A Wireless Connection Utility (WCU) as discussed by the authors provides a unified user experience for managing various types of wireless connections, including wireless WANs (26), wireless LANs (28), and Bluetooth networks (30).
Abstract: A Wireless Connection Utility (WCU) provides a unified user experience for managing various types of wireless connections, including wireless WANs (26), wireless LANs (28), and Bluetooth networks (30). The WCU functions as a gateway for a user of a computer to monitor the computer’s wireless network status, to switch wireless connections, to configure wireless connection settings, and to diagnose wireless connection problems through a wireless helper utility (WHU) (60). The WCU thus provides a unified U/I layer on the top of the existing operating system components for ease of use.

TL;DR: In this paper, a register train is provided in addition to a train of memory cells as many as a cut length which are arranged in correspondence to each state, and outputs of the registers at the front stages are inputted to those three selectors, respectively.
Abstract: A register train is provided in addition to a train of memory cells as many as a cut length which are arranged in correspondence to each state. Outputs of selectors at respective stages in the register train corresponding to state 00 are inputted to a register 1021 in the register train and selectors. Outputs of the registers at the front stages are inputted to those three selectors, respectively. The three selectors switch outputs to the post stages in accordance with a control by a control circuit when a reception word is terminated and in the other cases. Thus, when the reception word is terminated, information stored in the register train is transferred as it is. By such an operation, a path which reaches state 00 can be decoded when a reception word is terminated.
