30 Jan 2008TL;DR: In this article, a wireless communication system, wherein packet transmission operations are carried out in an infrastructure mode, includes: a first terminal station serving as a data transmission source; a second terminal stations serving as data receiving destination; and a control station configured to contain each terminal station and relay a packet transmitted between the two terminal stations.
Abstract: A wireless communication system, wherein packet transmission operations are carried out in an infrastructure mode, includes: a first terminal station serving as a data transmission source; a second terminal station serving as a data receiving destination; and a control station configured to contain each terminal station and relay a packet transmitted between the two terminal stations; wherein the first terminal station transmits a packet addressed to the second terminal station via the control station, and detects that the second terminal station is within range capable of a direct link, based on the first terminal station receiving a confirmation response packet replied from the second terminal station, the confirmation response packet being replied from the second terminal station upon a predetermined period of time having passed from the time of the control station transferring the packet to the second terminal station address.

25 May 1999TL;DR: In this article, a system and method for providing an electronic program guide for broadcast digital television wherein the electronic program display displays only currently broadcast minor channels and timely event and contextual information is presented.
Abstract: A system and method for providing an electronic program guide for broadcast digital television wherein the electronic program guide displays only currently broadcast minor channels (131), and timely event and contextual information. The system of the present invention includes program code in a memory for causing a tuner/de-multiplexor subsystem to tune to a preselected major channel broadcast frequency (132) and to provide thereby at least one transport stream comprising a plurality of associated digital data elementary streams. The elementary streams include minor channel audio and video, as well as program and system information tables (PSIT), all of which are associated by packet identifires to provide a table hierarchy. The system of the present invention compares presently broadcasting minor channel and PSIT information with corresponding information in memory. If the presently broadcasting information is more contemporaneous than the stored information, th stored information (113) is updated, or replaced, with the presently broadcasting information to enable display of only actively broadcasting minor channels and up-to-the-minute event and contextual information.

08 May 1992TL;DR: In this article, a data input apparatus comprising a pen for selectively indicating and inputting desired data, a display unit for displaying an image of the input data, and a tablet for obtaining coordinate data by indicating with the pen the position corresponding to a predetermined portion of a pattern displayed on the display unit is presented.
Abstract: A data input apparatus comprising a pen for selectively indicating and inputting (1) desired data; a display unit (9) for displaying an image of the input data; a tablet (8) for obtaining coordinate data by indicating with the pen the position corresponding to a predetermined portion of a pattern displayed on the display unit (9); means for detecting the coordinate data in response to a downward press of the pen to the tablet (8), and further detecting the coordinate data in response to an upward lift of the pen from the tablet (8); means for setting a first region of a predetermined area in the tablet (8), and also setting a second region which includes the first region and has an area greater than that of the first region; and deciding means for accepting the input data in response to a downward press of the pen to the first region and thereafter settling the input data in response to an upward lift of the pen from the second region. The apparatus is capable of preventing unintentional cancel of the input data that may result from an accidental displacement of the pen-up region beyond the pen-down region, hence facilitating accurate input of data to consequently realize faster manipulation.

31 May 2007TL;DR: In this article, a face detection unit detects a face region from an input image input to the imaging apparatus, and a control unit calculates a distance to a subject on the basis of the face size detected by the face detector and displaying distance identification information indicating a distance corresponding to the calculated distance in a display unit.
Abstract: An imaging apparatus includes a face detecting unit detecting a face region from an input image input to the imaging apparatus and a control unit calculating a distance to a subject on the basis of the face size detected by the face detection unit and displaying distance identification information indicating a distance corresponding to the calculated distance in a display unit.

05 May 2009TL;DR: In this paper, a virtual image display device with an optical waveguide to guide, by internal total reflection, parallel pencil groups meeting a condition of internal total reflections was presented. But the authors did not specify the conditions of the external reflection.
Abstract: A virtual image display device with an optical waveguide to guide, by internal total reflection, parallel pencil groups meeting a condition of internal total reflection, a first reflection volume hologram grating to diffract and reflect the parallel pencil groups incident upon the optical waveguide from outside and traveling in different directions as they are so as to meet the condition of internal total reflection inside the optical waveguide and a second reflection volume hologram grating to project the parallel pencil groups guided by internal total reflection inside the optical waveguide as they are from the optical waveguide by diffraction and reflection thereof so as to depart from the condition of internal total reflection inside the optical waveguide.
