TL;DR: A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for recording data on and reproducing data from a recording medium includes a recording and or reproducing unit, memory, a memory controller, and a servo control circuit as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A recording and/or reproducing apparatus for recording data on and/or reproducing data from a recording medium includes a recording and/or reproducing unit, a memory, a memory controller, and a servo control circuit, and a system controller. The recording and/or reproducing unit records data on the recording medium and/or reproduces recorded data from the recording medium. The memory temporarily stores data outputted from the recording and/or reproducing unit or input data to be recorded on the recording medium by the recording and/or reproducing unit. The memory controller controls the memory to write and read data such that data are read from the memory in a unit of time at a transfer rate lower than the transfer rate at which data are written in the memory in a unit of time. The servo control circuit supplies a servo control signal to the recording and/or reproducing means, and has an adjustable servo control gain. The system controller temporarily interrupts the recording of data on the recording medium or the reproducing of data from the recording medium with the recording and/or reproducing unit based on the amount of data stored in the memory, and controls the servo control circuit and the recording and/or reproducing unit to automatically adjust the servo control gain while the recording or reproducing of data is temporarily interrupted.

TL;DR: In this paper, the difference in color tone or contrast between a picture displayed on a display and a picture printed by the printer device is suppressed to a minimum, where the display is integrated with the printer and the characteristics correction unit corrects a display setting prescribing display image properties and a printing characteristics setting prescribing printing picture properties of the printing unit.
Abstract: A printer in which difference in color tone or contrast between a picture displayed on a display and a picture printed by the printer device is suppressed to a minimum. The display is preferably integrated with the printer. The printer includes an image data inputting unit for receiving input image information, e.g., by reading image data from a digital storage medium or from film, and providing digital image data based thereupon. Display outputting circuitry outputs an image signal corresponding to the digital image data to the display. A picture printing unit prints an image corresponding to the digital image data on a recording medium. A characteristics correction unit corrects a display setting prescribing display image properties of the display and a printing characteristics setting prescribing printing picture properties of the printing unit, so that color tone and/or contrast of the displayed and printed pictures are equalized. The printer also preferably includes circuitry for automatically correcting a tilt of a picture, e.g., tilt of an object in a photograph.

TL;DR: An aluminum wire-grid polarizer whose period is 0.39 microm has been fabricated on a quartz substrate by electron-beam direct-writing lithography and the lift-off method and theoretical analysis is performed and found to be consistent with the experimental results.
Abstract: An aluminum wire-grid polarizer whose period is 0.39 microm has been fabricated on a quartz substrate by electron-beam direct-writing lithography and the lift-off method. By using the s -polarization resonance effect and optimizing structural parameters, characteristics such as a loss of less than 20% and an extinction ratio larger than 1000 have been experimentally obtained at the 0.8- microm -wavelength band. Theoretical analysis is performed and found to be consistent with the experimental results.

TL;DR: In this paper, the registration mark is read from the back side by use of red light or near infrared rays, and registration of the stepper is accomplished by using the registration marks thus formed.
Abstract: Forming a back-illuminated type CMOS image sensor, includes process for formation of a registration mark on the wiring side of a silicon substrate during formation of an active region or a gate electrode A silicide film using an active region may also be used for the registration mark Thereafter, the registration mark is read from the back side by use of red light or near infrared rays, and registration of the stepper is accomplished It is also possible to form a registration mark in a silicon oxide film on the back side (illuminated side) in registry with the registration mark on the wiring side, and to achieve the desired registration by use of the registration mark thus formed

TL;DR: In this article, the authors proposed a method to cancel any received programs which the user of the receiving system does not want to record, based on the channel and start/end time information which is displayed.
Abstract: Scrambled video and audio signals of programs are transmitted from a transmitting system via a communication satellite to a receiving system. The audio signal contains channel, start/end time, and standard time information of the programs. The receiving system has a calendar for generating time information which is corrected according to the standard time information. Desired programs can automatically be recorded by a video tape recorder connected to the receiving system, based on the channel and start/end time information which is displayed. Any received programs which the user of the receiving system does not want to record can be canceled simply by pushing cancel keys.
