TL;DR: In this paper, a transaction is authorized without providing the identity of the user to the transaction terminal by using a transaction privacy clearinghouse (TPCH) coupled selectively to the user transaction device.
Abstract: An electronic system includes a user transaction device that provides a device identifier when coupled to a transaction terminal. The transaction terminal is configured to indicate that a transaction is to be performed when coupled to the user transaction device. The electronic system also includes a transaction privacy clearinghouse (TPCH), coupled selectively to the user transaction device when a transaction is to be performed. The TPCH is coupled to receive the device identifier and accessible data. Additionally, the accessible data is to be stored in a public storage area of a memory storage device that can be communicatively coupled to the user transaction device. The TPCH authorizes a transaction based upon the device identifier and the accessible data that includes account information of a user that is authorized to use the user transaction device. Moreover, a transaction is authorized without providing the identity of the user to the transaction terminal. The memory storage device also includes a private storage area for storage of confidential data such that the private storage area is to be encrypted with a key that is to be stored in the user transaction device.

TL;DR: In this article, a control signal generator for generating a channel selection control signal in response to a user's channel selection performed by a broadcast receiving apparatus has been described, which includes a channel selector for selecting a desired program channel from broadcast waves.
Abstract: A broadcast receiving apparatus having a control signal generator for generating a channel selection control signal in response to a channel selection performed by a user. The broadcast receiving apparatus further includes a channel selector for selecting a desired program channel from broadcast waves in response to the channel selection control signal. The apparatus further comprises a channel history memory for storing program channels, which have been selected by the channel selector on several occasions during past weeks, corresponding to the days of the weeks and the hours relative to the channel selections; a decision portions for checking the stored contents of the channel history memory and making a decision as to whether any frequent reception program channel selected and received at a frequency higher than a predetermined value exists on the same day of the week and at the same hour in the past; and a controller responsive to a detection of the existence of any frequent reception program channel executed by the decision portions and generating a control signal to instruct recording of the signal of the frequent reception program channel.

TL;DR: An overview of the recent standardization activities for point cloud compression is presented and a detailed description of both codec algorithms and their coding performances are provided.
Abstract: This article presents an overview of the recent standardization activities for point cloud compression (PCC). A point cloud is a 3D data representation used in diverse applications associated with immersive media including virtual/augmented reality, immersive telepresence, autonomous driving and cultural heritage archival. The international standard body for media compression, also known as the Motion Picture Experts Group (MPEG), is planning to release in 2020 two PCC standard specifications: video-based PCC (V-CC) and geometry-based PCC (G-PCC). V-PCC and G-PCC will be part of the ISO/IEC 23090 series on the coded representation of immersive media content. In this paper, we provide a detailed description of both codec algorithms and their coding performances. Moreover, we will also discuss certain unique aspects of point cloud compression.

TL;DR: A method and apparatus for content substitution, consistent with certain embodiments of the present invention involves receiving data representing content, the data having at least first and second packet identifiers (PIDs) associated with the content and placing content having the first PID into a data stream as discussed by the authors.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for content substitution, consistent with certain embodiments of the present invention involves receiving data representing content, the data having at least first and second packet identifiers (PIDs) associated with first and second portions of content. The content having the first PID is placed into a data stream. An initiation flag is received indicating initiation of a PID mapping operation. The content having the second PID is then mapped to the first PID and the mapped content is placed into the data stream. A termination flag is received indicating termination of the PID mapping operation at which point the process returns to placing content having the first PID into the data stream. The content substitution process can be used to replace advertisements, provide multiple plots, multiple endings, multiple views as well as other applications. This abstract is not to be considered limiting, since other embodiments may deviate from the features described in this abstract.
