Tirucallic Acids Are Novel Pleckstrin Homology Domain-Dependent Akt Inhibitors Inducing Apoptosis in Prostate Cancer Cells

TL;DR: The tirucallic acid derivatives represent a new class of Akt inhibitors with antitumor properties that inhibited proliferation and induced apoptosis in tumors xenografted onto chick chorioallantoic membranes and decreased the growth of pre-established prostate tumors in nude mice without overt systemic toxicity.
Journal ArticleDOI

Nanoparticle interactions with live cells: Quantitative fluorescence microscopy of nanoparticle size effects.

TL;DR: This work systematically analyzed the cellular uptake of fluorescent NPs in the size range of 3.3–100 nm (diameter) by live cells and attributed this distinct size dependence to the requirement of a sufficiently strong local interaction of the NPs with the endocytic machinery in order to trigger the subsequent internalization.

EMMPRIN (CD147) is a novel receptor for platelet GPVI and mediates platelet rolling via GPVI-EMMPRIN interaction

TL;DR: In this article, platelet glycoprotein VI (GPVI) was identified as a novel adhesion receptor for EMMPRIN, which can mediate platelet rolling via GPVI-EMMPRIN interaction.
