Guidelines for the use and interpretation of assays for monitoring autophagy (3rd edition)

Daniel J. Klionsky, +2522 more
- 21 Jan 2016 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a set of guidelines for the selection and interpretation of methods for use by investigators who aim to examine macro-autophagy and related processes, as well as for reviewers who need to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of papers that are focused on these processes.
Book ChapterDOI

Mitochondria Damage and Kidney Disease.

TL;DR: Kidney diseases, either acute kidney injury (AKI) or chronic kidney disease (CKD), are important clinical issues and global public health concerns with high mortality rate and socioeconomic burden due to lack of effective therapeutic strategies to cure or retard the progression of the diseases.
Journal ArticleDOI

MG53-mediated cell membrane repair protects against acute kidney injury

TL;DR: This work reports that MG53, a member of the TRIM family of proteins, participates in repair of injured PTE cells and protects against the development of AKI, and identifies MG53 as a vital component of reno-protection, and targeting MG53-mediated repair of P TE cells represents a potential approach to prevention and treatment ofAKI.
Journal ArticleDOI

Treatment of acute lung injury by targeting MG53-mediated cell membrane repair

TL;DR: This work shows that mitsugumin 53 has a physiological role in the lung and may be used as a treatment in animal models of acute lung injury and suggests that targeting membrane repair may be an effective means for treatment or prevention of lung diseases.
