Guidelines for the use and interpretation of assays for monitoring autophagy (4th edition)

Daniel J. Klionsky, +2983 more
- 08 Feb 2021 -
TL;DR: In this article, the authors present a set of guidelines for investigators to select and interpret methods to examine autophagy and related processes, and for reviewers to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of reports that are focused on these processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Autophagy-dependent mechanism of genistein-mediated elimination of behavioral and biochemical defects in the rat model of sporadic Alzheimer's disease.

TL;DR: It is found that high genistein dose (150 mg/kg/day; the dose significantly higher than those used previously in AD studies by others) can activate autophagy in the streptozotocin‐induced rat model of the sporadic form of AD, and it is concluded thatAutophagy‐dependent mechanism is responsible for genisteIn‐mediated correction of AD when this isoflavone is used at the high dose.
Journal ArticleDOI

Autophagy stimulation as a promising approach in treatment of neurodegenerative diseases.

TL;DR: Different ways by which autophagy can be stimulated can be considered as a therapeutic strategy in metabolic neurodegenerative diseases, and these aspects are reviewed and discussed in this article.
Journal ArticleDOI

How close are we to therapies for Sanfilippo disease

TL;DR: Although no therapy is available for Sanfilippo disease now, recent years did bring important breakthroughs in this aspect, and clinical trials are being conducted with enzyme replacement therapy, gene therapy, and substrate reduction therapy.
