Guidelines for the use and interpretation of assays for monitoring autophagy (3rd edition)

Daniel J. Klionsky, +2522 more
- 21 Jan 2016 -
TL;DR: In this paper, the authors present a set of guidelines for the selection and interpretation of methods for use by investigators who aim to examine macro-autophagy and related processes, as well as for reviewers who need to provide realistic and reasonable critiques of papers that are focused on these processes.
Journal ArticleDOI

Deregulated transcription factor E2F-1 expression leads to S-phase entry and p53-mediated apoptosis.

TL;DR: In this paper, E2F-1-mediated apoptosis was suppressed by coexpression of wild-type RB or a transdominant negative mutant species of p53, while co-expression of a naturally occurring loss-of-function RB mutant or wild type p53 did not suppress the induction of apoptosis under these conditions.

Cytoplasmic chromatin triggers inflammation in senescence and cancer

TL;DR: It is shown that cytoplasmic chromatin activates the innate immunity cytosolic DNA-sensing cGAS–STING (cyclic GMP–AMP synthase linked to stimulator of interferon genes) pathway, leading both to short-term inflammation to restrain activated oncogenes and to chronic inflammation that associates with tissue destruction and cancer.
